After visiting 27 The Terrace for the last few years, it was disappointing to see that standards have slipped. Broken seating in the breakfast room, along with milk splashes and grease marks on cupboard doors and the wall by the fireplace. Broken tiles and fag ends at the bottom of the entrance steps. There used to be coffee pod machines in the rooms, now gone. Last year they introduced an ice maker in the breakfast room, gone. The lovely local produce for breakfast, now cash and carry. We know this as a box of goods was left in the reception area, waiting to be put away. It was also not nice to see, the waitress at breakfast, leaving dirty cloths and cleaning spray on tables where diners were sat on the next table, not acceptable. The expelair in our bathroom was filthy and on the floor a very rusty doorstop. As other nearby hotels are improving , 27 The Terrace has definitely slipped back. Things will need to improve we feel, if the AA 5* rating is to be justified .

Great location with easy free parking. The room was clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. Situated opposite the lovely Porthminster beach . Staff are friendly and a lovely cooked breakfast!

We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. Our room was overlooking the garden and was very comfortable. The steps from the car park are somewhat challenging! Breakfast was a choice of cold and hot food. Only one cereal choice available. Milk and sugar not on each table but on the serving table, which was not ideal. Heated towel rail in bathroom meant we did not require towel changes. Room was serviced every day.

Good location and wonderful view of the ocean . Nice rooms that are well appointed with a stocked minibar. There is road noise on the ocean side rooms. Earplugs helped a lot. The service was excellent. The only thing to be aware of is the staff leaves at 6 pm sharp. We got there at 6:10 and couldn't get in. Luckily, I checked my email, and they had left a key in a lockbox outside the front door. The other thing to know is there are 30 steps to get from the carpark and 20 steps back to get up to the room. The hotel is rather small as many are in this area and there were no laundry services.

Fantastic stay. Very attentive staff. Would definitely recommend. Just a shame about the weather. ?? our room was warm but air con was really quiet which was great. TV remote a bit temperamental. Lovely breakfast. Would visit again. Perfect spot.

Staff amazing. Location excellent. Only faults fire alarm went off at 5 o'clock in morning, resulting in 30 minutes spent outside waiting for all clear to go back into room. No compensation for this. Restaurant closed so have to go out for evening meal, not made aware of this until arrival. No smart tvs so can't log into netflix. Cannot fault it otherwise.

We enjoyed our visit to St Ives and our stay was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the service was great. The location is perfect, just a few minutes from the centre of town and a beautiful beach across the road. Bonus is the parking. Go around the back of the hotel to find the parking area. We were in Room 5, not the greatest view, it overlooked the garden and the car park but it was absolutely fine. Relatively quiet too, most of the traffic being at the front of the property. The bed was very comfortable, with a good sized bathroom. The downside was the bathroom window rattling all night on our last night and the bathroom mirror flickered on and off all night. We had reported the light issue on our first day but we never heard anything again until we raised it upon checkout. We were assured that the light had been dealt with but this was not relayed to us during our visit and the problem persisted. We just assumed they didn’t follow it up - more communication with guests could solve any further issues. Overall, we’d recommend staying here and would definitely return.

Staff very helpful when had an issue finding the hotel carpark. A lot of thought has gone into the internal decor. Bedroom linen and bath towels good quality. Good attention to detail. Staff ver friendly. Breakfast excellent with a good choice for vegetarians. Location also excellent. Had a room at the back that didn't have a view bur was very quiet. Would recommend

We have stayed at 27 The Terrace four times in the last five years, it is like home from, rooms excellent, breakfast superb, staff friendly and very helpful. So here is an honest appraisal from arriving to leaving. Location is excellent, located just above Porthminster Beach and the St Ives station, and a short walk down to the heart of St Ives. Very easy to find when arriving by car. Parking is very good too, at the back of the property, access via steps at the rear of the property from car park. The House is tastefully decorated, large paintings in hallway, stairs and dining room. The dining room looks out over St Ives bay and Porthminster beach. Menu for breakfast is excellent, as is are the self serve options. Meal perfectly cooked and very good portion size. The rooms are also tastefully decorated, nice touch with the stone unit top easy to clean always looks good. Our room had a Super king bed, so it was home from home. Bathroom clean modern and lots of hot water, nice electric radiator for drying towels and heating bathroom. The staff are efficient, very friendly and helpful, always makes a stay more enjoyable. Check out is by 10am, easy process, and away you go, until next time. Overall you would find it hard to stay anywhere as good as 27 The Terrace. We cruise on 4+ star ships, Stayed at luxury Hotels around the World, and we always enjoy staying here. Take it from us, it is a lovely venue to stay at, skip over it for another would be a mistake.

Visited St Ives for a quick two night break at the end of August. We had a lovely room with beautiful decor and furnishings, but the best of all was the view over the sea - amazing. Breakfast was also a highlight with lots of choice and friendly staff. Pity we only had two nights!
