I'm so pleased to have stayed at the Ared Villa. This is a great location - near the airport - and a great price - so affordable for the quick night or two after arriving or before departure from Colombo. The proprietor and his wife are the kindest people; they do a lot of good work for their community and the country (so please support them). There are at least 4 good restaurants within a 10-minute walk from this safe neighborhood.

We had a room with two double beds and an AC, this was perfect for our family of 4. We landed in Sri Lanka at 9 pm and just needed to place to sleep before we officially began our holiday. The lady working at the frontdesk was very kind. We also got bottled water in the room, which was amazing since we did not stop at a shop before heading there. We arrived at night and left again in the morning, so we are not sure if there are shops or restaurants around this area.
We arrived in the middle of the night to a warm welcome. After a discussion re breakfast time, we were shown to our room. The room was basic but spotlessly clean as was the en suite. Next morning the water ran out during one shower but came back after a while. Apart from the occasional plane it was very quiet. Our Sri Lankan breakfast was tasty without being too hot – dahl, chicken curry, sambal. Manu had organised a driver to pick us up from the airport and to also to take us on a tour of Negombo in the morning. We greatly appreciated not having to check out of our room until early afternoon when we were being picked up by our driver for a tour of Sri Lanka
