Excellent small boutique hotel with friendly and helpful staff, quiet rooms, and a good breakfast

Hello, the hotel was very nice, very clean, the staff very friendly! We spent 2 nts and our friends from Toronto, Canada just loved it. It was their 1st time in Loreto. Breakfast was delicious too! We had dinner at Frida Kalo Rest., the fajitas was very good along with a cold bear. The dessert was a plantain fried banana with caramel, so good. Walking distance from the Hotel.

We have visited the Blue Haven hotel many times over the past 20 years, pre Covid, though never stayed. What always attracted us was the quality of the bar and restaurant food, and the location being central to the town. As a treat we booked our stay for two nights leaving on Christmas Eve. On checking in at reception, we were told that the hotel had been awarded the best food in Ireland award some years before and we could expect fine meals. This fitted in with our memories of the place. Unfortunately, the hotel badly failed to deliver on its previous reputation. Quite honestly, we ate the first night in the restauarant, and never again. We ordered the beer battered fish and chips, a former favourite. On arrival, the small piece of fish, looked like a boxed fillet from Lidl or Aldi, not the fresh irregular pieces we remember, and expected. It was burnt and the chips were cold and grey looking, like they had stood all evening.. We honestly couldn't believe what had been presented. A second serving was made, this time the chips were pale and hard, and again the fish was a boxed type supermarket offering, tasteless. We were were offered a 25% discount on our bill which we accepted, though we really shouldn't have paid for it at all. We were shocked at this poorly cooked fast food offering and didn't eat at the hotel the following evening. Next morning we were seated at a table in the restaurant as we were residents. However, it was apparent that people were walking in from the street door to have breakfast in the restaurant, The breakfast, porridge and scrambled eggs, was almost cold and it was not at all a relaxing guest dining experience. We left as quickly as possible. Our room was adequate and clean, with a comfortable bed, no problems there. We were told though, that the front doors to the hotel were locked at 9pm and were given a key. This was not the case on either evening, as the doors were not locked. Anyone could access the hotel rooms at any time. Given that there are no safe deposit boxes in the rooms we took our valuables with us. There is a security and safety risk at the hotel. The place was heaving being so close to Christmas, warranting better security from Management, not indifference. Overall, our fond memories of the Blue Haven have been permanently deleted. We will never visit again, and cannot, in all honesty, recommend it to anyone. The place is very busy, but its reputation, marketing pitch and actual delivery do not live up to what it promises. We were very dissapointed to say the least. Please consider finding a new Head Chef, no one could take pride in the offerings we were served. We have eaten far better in our local cafes at a fraction of the cost. Presentation: Nil, Quality and Value: Nil.

As a recent (and regular visit) to the Blue Haven, I always have enjoyable experiences in the hotel. Staff are always accomadating and inviting. Hotel is really cosy and warm with very clean surrounds. On my recent stay, staff extended a very gracious act of generosity whereby they didn't have to, which im very appreciative of. Hotel location is ideal as its right in the middle of Kinsale, along with their sister Hotel a few doors up where there is also a beautiful cafe that does great coffee! I have no problem recommending the Blue Haven to anyone wishing to stay in kinsale
