Our Daughter just had her wedding weekend at Cabo Surf Hotel. We did a buyout of the hotel and it was a magical weekend filled with friends and family. Shout out to Caroline their wedding planner, the staff and Kitchen crew for executing a flawless weekend of events. The hotel lends itself to several different areas for bonfire nights on the beach, cocktails by the pool, reception on the grass and beautiful rocks/arches on the beach for pictures. They accommodated whatever ideas we wanted for the weekend and found great vendors to work with for big movie screens on the beach or colored balls in the pool to sax players, guitar players to DJ’s and Mariachis. Shoutout to the Chef as the food was delicious and served hot to 130 guests. Our guests are still marveling at the staff and food. The hotel is much less expensive than other Cabo hotels and the ability to take over the whole hotel makes the experience such much more special and intimate. Highly recommend if you are looking for a destination wedding.

We recently spent four nights at the Cabo Surf Hotel and Spa, and unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. After reading so many glowing reviews, I genuinely wondered whether I had missed something—but even upon reflection, I remain puzzled by the gap between the price we paid and the quality we received. Here is the feedback I shared directly with the hotel: “Given the rates you charge, I had hoped for a higher level of service, room quality, amenities, and dining. At nearly $470 per night (after taxes and fees), the overall experience felt closer to a three-star property. Our room intermittently had a strong septic odor, was noisy due to late-night activity from the restaurant, and lacked consistent hot water. The staff was polite but not particularly warm or proactive. Dining was another disappointment—the food was overpriced for the portion sizes and quality. We ended up choosing to dine at the restaurants in Palmilla most nights, which offered better meals at a lower cost. Additionally, the surf rental shop on property had the weakest selection of boards we’ve seen, at prices significantly higher than comparable rentals in Mexico or even Hawaii. Overall, we felt both limited in options and overcharged. We don’t mind paying premium prices, but that naturally comes with higher expectations. For context, we spent the following four nights at the Viceroy in an upgraded suite for about $50 more per night, and that experience exceeded every expectation.” I share this in hopes that it provides helpful clarity for future guests—and constructive feedback for the hotel. There is real potential here, but improvements are needed to match the pricing and promise of the property.

I have been staying at Cabo Surf now for the past 15 years now and it is always such an amazing experience. However , I am saddened to hear that one of my favorite people is no longer working there . Antonio the bartender was always the most friendly and helpful people and was part of my Cabo hotel experience. Not sure my visits will be the same now.

Everything was amazing! The staff are so welcoming and make the trip experience so great. Food is so good, the grounds are gorgeous, the beach is a great place to surf and the customer service is top notch. We have come here as a couple and with our family and it caters well to both types of trips. We will be back!

Phenomenal views, Clean rooms and super friendly staff. The restaurant (7 Seas) was top notch. All meals were fantastic.

This hotel is right on the beach, which is beautiful. The stuff is very nice. It’s a very relaxing place.

Stayed for 7 nights so we really got a good sense of what the place is like. The good: Wonderfully close to the water, especially if you get one of the beach front rooms. I suspect any room on the back of the buildings will be noisy though, as the highway goes *right* behind it. Cleaning staff seemed excellent. And generally this would be a good place to go for a shorter stay, if you like surfing. The not so good: We noticed when arriving and any time near the gates an overwhelming stench of sewage. We never could figure out where it was coming from. Very close to the highway. You could hear road noise when you were away from the ocean. Only one restaurant and nothing is walkable. I want to note that some other reviews have mentioned “not much” is walkable and I want to make sure to specify that *literally* nothing is walkable. This place is right off a highway, there is no sidewalk, and the beach is bookended by large cliff/rocks. I’m big on exploring on foot and was pretty disappointed to find out I’d need to take a car to get anywhere. The food in the only restaurant is hit or miss. I had some very good ravioli and enchiladas but some very overcooked shrimp and extremely salty avocado toast. The lunch menu is exorbitantly expensive; if you’d like a simple chicken quesadilla it’s $20 USD. And that doesn’t include the 17% Vat. Rooms are very bare bones. Minimal soaps, only one bottle of water which is replaced if you ask your room to be cleaned. The pools were rather small and very very warm. It was like swimming in a hot tub. This is not hyperbole as the upper pool hot tub was indistinguishable in temperature from the pool itself. The lower pool only marginally so. Because of the small size of the property when it’s full it felt very crowded. The beach is nice but not the most swimmable if that’s what you’re looking for. You can’t walk very far down the beach because there are rocks blocking the way on either side. This could be a pro and a con. Very steep grade in the hallways. My partner slid and fell once. Just be careful but also if you have issues walking take note. The staff is decent. About 30% of them are very nice, the others a little rude or passive at best. Rooms a bit bare bones for what you’d expect at $300-$600 USD per night. Very limited toiletries, horrendous coffee situation (tiny oster drip coffee machine with unknown grounds and powdered creamer). The coffee in the restaurant was also very poor. You also get locked out on the beach when they close the doors. The time the doors close varies. Today we got locked out at only 7pm.
