Four friends spent an amazing overnight at Casa Marimba. The accommodations were beautiful, spa treatments top notch, and the lake irresistible. The food was not as good as some other eco lodges I’ve stayed at in the area, but overall a wonderful experience. One recommendation is to bring water shoes as the shoreline is very rocky and it’s difficult to access the lake bare footed.

The environment at casa marimba boasts tranquility and the staff are very accomodating and friendly. I was very pleased with my second experience at the restaurant, the first being dinner, the second being lunch. I enjoyed the tostones which I believe everyone should order for the table. Huge, filling and delicious. I asked for the meat to be cooked rare but it came well done which was a little bummer but overall quality was awesome. It was only $12 so I wasn’t too phased. Banana cake was beautiful and moist. Really recommend.

The location is beautiful. Lots of plantings and places to relax. The best part was the morning sunrise swims in the lake, when the water was calm, listening to the birds and the howler monkeys. Rooms were comfortable (on the rustic side). The food was also quite good with a varied menu each day and vegetarian options. The staff were helpful and responsive by WhatsApp and arranged taxis and day tours. But it's also just a nice place to relax and take it easy. A few notes for other travelers - 1. There's no hot water (although there is A/C for an extra charge) 2. It's a small property so you will hear noise from other patrons and staff in rooms 3. There are quite a few stairs especially down to the dining area and water 4. Sometimes there was construction noise from next door.

Had an excellent stay here. It is quiet and peaceful which is exactly what I was looking for. It is right on the Laguna and its warm waters for a peaceful and relaxing swim. The grounds are beautiful and it is clean. My room had a covered patio with a hammock which was great for relaxing and listening to the afternoon rain. My only quibble is there was no hot water in the shower. The weather is warm and humid so not the end of the world, but would’ve been nice for a little warmth.

we really enjoyed our stay at Casa Marimba. The food served was excellent and the staff really was responsive to every need. It sits on a volcanic lake that is beautiful and great to swim in and there are many places to hang out at the resort and take in the beautiful views. Our only complaint is that the the hotel needs to install rugs on the top floors so you do not hear all the people walking above you. Also, if you will stay in the room with the veranda on the first floor, you will hear the noise from the reception next door. We hear there are plans to address this but it was a problem during our stay and kept us from giving this place a perfect score.

We came here for a day pass from Granada! We had a wonderful day at Casa Marimba. The food was ok, not great. There was a bit of confusion over if you had a space on "reserved" for the day pass or if it was a free-for-all. The beach is a bit rocky, but the lake is divine. It was very quiet and relaxing, which was great for us!! Highly recommend for a day pass.

I visited Nicaragua to go birdwatching. I selected Casa Marimba because it is an eco-lodge in a beautiful lake setting. One of the value added services was I asked for a recommendation for a birding guide and Casa Marimba referred Alex Acosta. Alex took me to several different habitats and we saw a lot of the local birds. Alex exceeded my expectations and is an excellent and knowledgeable guide. Sometimes you don't know exactly what you're going to get when you travel, but this time the Casa Marimba and Alex Acosta combination was a winner. I highly recommend.

Casa marimba is such a paradise ! The rooms are so comfi ! Mine was number 5 , with a lovely Laguna view and a balcony ! The staff of the hotel is partly what makes this place so lovely , Everyone is adorable and made me feel at home . The Laguna is pure bliss ! I highly recommend staying at casa marimba ! I will definitely be back , I arrived solo and let’s with mew friends ?? Muchas gracias a todo Olivia M.

Casa Marimba is a wonderful and peaceful place. Staff was very welcoming and kind during our stay. I specially loved everything about the food and the view is just breathtaking. Will definitely come back!

Im yoga teacher traveling thru Latin America looking for places to host my next yoga retreat. I stumbled upon this hidden gem in lago de Apopyo. The property is intimate with a great staff & relaxed vibe. The food options are perfect for flexitarians & desert lovers. My favorite thing was the calala torte that I devoured before I could get a photo. I did slow down to capture this meal of tostones mixto. Definitely recommend this as a spot for couples, retreat groups, familys, or solo travelers needing some R&R. Looking forward to coming back with my group!!
