I did not read the website properly enough. They state they have a dining room with pictures but there is not breakfast served. I did not realise this. The room was good though and friendly reception but the price was quite high I thought for a single person etc. Comfy bed though.

We are on the Cotswold Walk from Oxford to Bath and this guest house was picked by the tour company. The person running it was very friendly and showed us to our room. After a 12 mile walk we took showers immediately and then wanted a little rest. There are separate twin beds. The mattress on my bed was so old and flat that the springs were at the surface of the mattress. I thought that for one night I could swing it but when I lay down it went into my back. The manager was able to switch it out for another mattress from another room which was much better. I really can’t believe that this mattress was on any bed in this guest house. When looking around you see other things that are tired and should be either repaired or replaced. For instance the chair right outside my door. I have attached a photo.

Positives - A good location (bus stop right outside, short walk to market square/town centre), with the owner happy to accommodate a slightly later check-in of between 8-9pm as we were travelling several hours to get to the property. Negatives - Overall disappointing compared to the online reviews. Some specific points: - Very old and battered leather chair in room, so much so that it actually detracted from the room itself. - Room servicing poor. Main issue was that tiny bottles of shower gel and soap were not refilled, which made having a shower when we got in late very difficult. Bed not made, cobweb on ceiling, etc. - Room itself needed love and attention (i.e. wallpaper on ceiling beginning to split, etc). - Breakfast. Cooked breakfast was fine, but the other items consisted of croissants in plastic packaging, breakfast bars, etc. Room not cosy at all (overhead light, large tv on, etc). More attention needs to be paid to what guests would like - menus might help? All in all, not a cosy B&B-style guesthouse, which is perhaps what we had envisaged from the online description and available pictures. Instead felt quite like a small hotel - and one that needed some attention at that. Not 4* material. Also note, the whole property has been converted to guest rooms, meaning that you may get a room on the ground floor - meaning that you have to keep the shutters closed (and therefore no natural light) to maintain any privacy.

We were informed (several days after booking) that there would be no breakfast available at all. To be honest, even though the breakfast chefs are entitled to time off surely it is not impossible to provide a simple continental style breakfast. We also were not informed that there would be no housekeeping at all (even for a several day stay), or that the toilet cistern was broken or how/when to hand the key back.... So overall not a good experience and very poor value for money. If you wanted some time off between Christmas and New Year then that's fine.... just don't open, but if you are going to open then you need to provide a basic level of service. So perhaps we should have rung 101 which they reliably informed us was the number for the NHS, which is of course is the non emergency police number! (The NHS being 111). The rooms are tired and the whole place seems run down and in need of serious attention.

Well worth its 4 star rating. The host was extremely friendly and helpful. Lovely shower. And to top it all you are just across the road from one of Witney's nicest pubs the Three Horseshoes. Would definitely return

Great little place that presented very well in all areas. We were warmly greeted (even though we were very late arriving)and check in was done promptly and efficiently. Guest House in well located and within easy walking distance of town centre, shops and a great local pub. Room was very clean and well appointed although a little on the small size. Tea /Coffee making facilities were available in our room. Ensuite, also smallish, was spotless and well maintained. An excellent breakfast was offered. Good home cooking with plenty of options available. Only street parking available which made things a little tricky with heavy suitcases etc. Would definitely recommend Corncroft Guest House if travelling to Whitney.

The place is very easy to get to. The owner was very friendly and was there when we checked in. Comfortable bed and room big enough. Staff very courteous, excellent service at breakfast. The stay, although only one night, was pleasant. Although it is understandable, given that the building is not modern, I don't particularly like the carpeting everywhere. The bathroom is in keeping with the age of the building, I found it a little difficult that there is no mixer tap on the basin but two separate taps with hot and cold water (although in the UK this is very common). Also, unfortunately the shower, although the shower tray was very spacious, was problematic due to virtually no adequate flow of hot water: when you turn the tap to cold water the flow is very powerful but the water freezes, whereas if you turn it to hot water only a few drops come out, which is not good....

We stayed at the Corncroft Guest House for a couple of nights while visiting the Cotswolds. We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful 'bed & breakfast', located right in the heart of Witney. The staff made us most welcome and the service at reception and in the restaurant for breakfast was exceptional while It all made for a memorable experience. Thank you everyone at the fabulous Corncroft Guest House, we'll be back...

We spent 3 days here and what a lovely town. Very nice guest house with very pleasant owner and staff, who looked after us very well. Rooms were ok and suited us for our 2 night stay but the bed was a little short as I am quite tall. Richard did an excellent breakfast in the and there was a nice little lounge where which could use in the evenings. The Guest house is perfectly placed just off the Town Centre. Only downside was there was no parking and we had to find somewhere on the side streets. Once parked we walked everywhere after that.
