Friendly and polite service staff. Free parking outside the hotel. No problem finding a space.

The Cornucopia Hotel is charming with fantastically helpful staff who repeatedly ask if there’s anything they can do for you. It is a bit of a walk from the village of Xarha so if you’re not hiring a car, book on the half board basis so you can eat dinner in the hotel. The room was spotless with a comfortable bed, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Take your own toiletries tho as only hand and body wash is supplied, no shampoo. Electricity sockets are UK compatible. We had a balcony overlooking the pool but the weather was very cold, windy and wet so we couldn’t sit outside. Bit of a nuisance that the room was too small to contain an armchair or table. Tho we did use the bar area a couple of times. The food was really quite good but, as someone who doesn’t eat meat, i had a few gripes. I do eat fish which was consistently delicious but I don’t want to do that all the time. The only alternative offering over and over again was aubergine or zucchini parmigiana. Two things wrong with that: I don’t particularly like aubergines and Parmesan is not vegetarian as it’s set with animal rennet. I was also offered pasta with pesto - totally unimaginative and void of protein, omelette equally boring. Breakfast is served 7.30 till 10 - lovely, but the baked beans were always cold by the time we got there at 9.30. And, of course, no sign of a vegetarian sausage! We walked a lot and used Bolt or Uber to get taxis everywhere. They’re really cheap and convenient because buses are few and far between and you mostly have to do the 20-25 minute walk to the village to catch one. We were there for a fortnight and I don’t really think Gozo has enough to occupy you for that many days especially if the weather is as awful as ours. But it is friendly and quiet so preferable to Malta.

In die Jahre gekommenes Haus. Wir hatten ein grosses Zimmer aber der Standart ist wie vor 40 Jahren. Aussensitzplatz ist nicht Privat. Frühstück ist OK aber einfach immer das selbe.. 600 Meter ins Zentrum durch manch enge Gasse

Situated in a quiet location and a short walk although steep roads to a slopes and restaurants. The hotel was advertised as 4 star, personally I would say it has a long way to go before it is that. The room me and my husband had was a nice size and consisted of a double bed, and one single, you really need to replace those mattresses, it was very uncomfortable. The bathroom needs some repair with rusty hand rails , taps and curtains rails hooks. The bathroom door looked like it had been chewed at the bottom. One night we wanted to order just a burger for dinner instead of the food we had been eating for 3 days before in the expensive menu, we were told we were not allowed to eat that inside, and would have to sit by the pool. My wife suffers with asthma, people were smoking at the tables out there, so we had to go elsewhere else to eat that night and never ate there again. We both thought that was very petty of the manager and made us both feel uncomfortable! 2* hotel would not return.

Dear Diane S. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps us improve / change where needed. Guest’s satisfaction is imperative to us, that is why we maintain all our rooms on a yearly basis. We notice that your experience with us was a year ago so we are confident that the small shortcomings mentioned have been addressed. All our mattresses are fully orthopaedic. With mattresses such as pillows, everybody has their preference, if you had just asked us, we would have gladly complied. Our main Restaurant offers Daily table d`hote menu and A` La Carte. To meet all our guest`s palates the snack menu is also served during dinner time from the bar. One can opt to sit either outside by the pool / garden area or inside the bar lounge where smoking is prohibited. As stated above, we aim to offer all our guests’ optimal experience so we do apologies for not meeting yours. Wish you all the best for your future. We stayed here for one night and unfortunately it was one night too many. The staff are all very friendly and cannot fault them, they gave us what they said was one of the nicer rooms which we were grateful for. The hotel landscape is gorgeous, unfortunately it is incredibly outdated and facilities are very tired. The main pool is grubby, the hotel room is needs a total renovation, AC is very old, beds are very uncomfortable, hairdryer from the 20th century (see photo), TV very old a pixelated, bathroom in the room incredible aged and looks dirty because of this. The kettle in our room was covered in limescale. We ordered burgers and a pina colada and cake on the first day, they were all very poor quality, the burger looked totally professed and it’s since left me with a stomach ache. Aside from the potato’s at breakfast, the rest was inedible in my view, including the machine coffee that tasted strange. I’ve noticed the manager does get offended with poor reviews and whilst I would have said something to them at the time, I think they can see for themselves how tired the facilities are so I didn’t see the point. I don’t recommend.
