Dar Roumana, without question, should be the central pillar of your journey through Morocco. It has been the highlight of mine, standing out among the 5000km I have traveled by road between Switzerland and the border with Mauritania. It is, to me, the perfect place to stay. Soaked in centuries of culture, it is for me the embodiment of what a Riad should be.. these old houses, almost sanctuaries, with their inner courtyards and calm and art in every millimeter. Redouane has been of incredible help here. He has gone beyond what could be expected, organizing special requests I had in Fès, far beyond the walls of the Riad, so that I could have things produced that I will keep for life. I will always be grateful to him. Nezha has been incredibly gracious and warm, and I cheer her on, on her journey. The architecture, the food, the obviously love that has been put in, the service, the incredible character of the place.. I would love to return.

Our stay at Riad Dar Roumana was absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious, the ambience was peaceful and beautifully traditional, and the staff were fabulous. The Riad is also situated in a perfect spot. Would highly recommend!

Dar Roumana was the first riad we stayed at during our 2-week girls trip around Morocco, and it definitely raised the bar high! It's very beautifully restored, especially the courtyard where we had our afternoon tea and daily delicious breakfast spread accompanied by Eddy the resident tortoise! Location was also perfect, close enough to the main streets of the old medina but quiet enough that it was a relief to return to away from the hustle. We also decided on a whim on our last night to have dinner at the restaurant, no regrets! They were flexible with our dining preferences and we were pleasantly surprised by the flavours and plating. My friend said it was better than the meals she had during her few days in Paris before arriving in Morocco. Finally, not forgetting the best managing staff -- shout out to Nezha, Rachid and Mohamed for their attention to detail and incomparable hospitality! If you don't get around to asking the staff, the welcome booklet will tell you everything you need to know, even if you want to get Henna done in house. You won't be disappointed, I highly recommend (:

We loved every minute of our 6 night visit. With only five rooms, it was quiet. The location of the Riad was excellent. Within five minutes walk of the souk, it was on the edge of the walled city so that we were able to have a beautiful ‘Tuscan’ walk in the hills the moment we passed through the nearby gate. Our room was grand with a pleasant balcony and good bathroom - simple but worked well. The roof terrace was big and very usable with great views over the city. The restaurant in the winter covered courtyard was excellent - well prepared European food with wine, and a very good European breakfast….A great escape!

I spent four nights here and loved every minute. The riad is a work of art and was one of the best places I stayed in Morocco. If it wasn’t my first trip to Fes I would have been happy staying in the riad all day and enjoying the ambiance. All of the staff was very kind and helpful. I ate in the restaurant twice and it was wonderful. What a privilege to have stayed here and I hope I can return.

I stayed 2 nights in the Yasmina room of the riad. It was amazing experience. I felt like princess because of the ambiance of the riad and my room. everything was clean and staff were helpful. The location was close to everything. I had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious too. I definetly recommend.

Très bel h?tel dans un très magnifique maison marocaine restaurée. Les chambres sont immenses et d’un bon confort. Le petit déjeuner est excellent et le restaurant aussi. Le personnel est très serviable. La terrasse sur le toit est agréable.

A truly perfect dinner, with a very sweet and attentive service. I liked the ligthing and atmosphere, a great place to go with your better half. You have to look for it, because it is a hidden gem. We had three courses and they were all Lovely and reasonably priced when you take in to account the quality.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and we loved it. The service was fantastic, our room, the Tamarind suit, was beautiful, very spacious, had 2 shower heads, had 5 large windows in the suite, all overlooking the courtyard, it also came with bathrobes and had a safe. We had dinner here one evening and the food was fantastic. The roof top is lovely for the daily complimentary tea and we enjoyed some wine and beer some evenings, looking at the sunset and listening to the call to prayer. I would highly recommend this Riad to anyone staying in fez.

Dopo aver valutato diverse location abbiamo optato per il Dar Roumana, complici le ottime recensioni e il buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Devo dire che le nostre aspettative sono state ampiamente superate. Parto dal servizio: Redouane e il suo staff sono persone estremamente disponibili e cortesi, sarete sempre accolti da un sorriso e accontentati in qualunque richiesta. Dal consumare una cena leggera in terrazza al cercare la giusta escursione o il giusto hammam. Redouane sarà letteralmente il vostro angelo custode, sempre raggiungibile grazie a WhatsApp. Noi abbiamo prenotato la camera più economica ma ci è stato fatto un upgrade, prima nella junior suite e poi nella suite, la camera più bella della struttura, con balcone provato affacciato verso l'esterno (cosa più unica che rara all'interno della Medina). Non mi dilungo sulla cena perchè conto di fare una recensione a parte. (abbiamo mangiato 3 sere in struttura e tutte le volte sono state ottime esperienze culinarie). Concludo consigliando fortemente il Dar Roumana, per le dimensioni contenute, la sua unicità e la conduzione "familiare", il suo ottimo ristorante e la sua posizione periferica ma allo stesso tempo comoda sia per immergersi nel dedalo della città vecchia che per uscire rapidamente e raggiungere un parcheggio dove prendere taxi o incontrare il proprio autista. Andate a Fés, soggiornate la Dar Roumana, non ve ne pentirete.
