Dar Seffarine is visually impressive and tastefully decorated (not gaudy). It met the high expectations set by photos seen here at TripAdivisor. The staff were courteous and spoke English well and, upon arrival, kindly met me at the cab stop to help me find my way to the hotel. Other guests during my stay seemed courteous & considerate. The riad is located beside R'cif Mosque, a little south and east of some of the main medina sites but a decent base for walking around the medina. It's a short (10 minute) walk to the R'Cif bus stop (former Bab R'Cif gate area), the point you'll be taken to if arriving by car, from which you can grab a petit taxi to points farther afield, and where there are several restaurants. My room was one of the more modest (but still attractive) rooms on the lower floor on the east side of the building. Street noise was a bit of an issue in this room at night; even with the window closed, one could easily hear people talking (sometimes loudly and sometimes very late at night) as they walked along the alley beneath the window. Ear plugs helped. The lighting in the room (and the common areas of the riad, other than roof deck) was very subtle - not great if you wanted to read. The breakfast room, a room beside the roof deck, and the communal breakfast table setting were very pleasant; but, during my stay, the variety of breakfast food was a little thin and unimaginative compared to other riads I stayed in; Other guests and I kept looking around to see if there was something else on the breakfast table we had missed. Overall, a good stay in a memorable, tastefully restored/decorated riad with a decent medina location.

Wonderful location in the Medina. Beautifully decorated with amazing architectural details. Super helpful and sweet staff. Views out on the old city from the roof deck evenings and mornings not to be missed. Great food. Interesting and comfortable rooms. A great base from which to experience Fez. We couldn't be happier with Dar Seffarine.

This magical place is exquisite in every way possible. From the moment we were greeted on arrival until the moment we (sadly) left, we felt like we were treated like family. The building (from 1313!!) has been immaculately restored, and each and every corner and room will leave you in awe. Our bedroom was like a palace. And then the rooftop ... THE ROOFTOP. The views were perfect of the old medina whether you were up there for the pink sunrise, the call to prayer or the glorious sunset. I can't wait to return!

A grand old many-story townhouse near the Karaouine mosque. The interior mosaic-work, massive carved doors and courtyard were splendid and one-of-a-kind. We spent 3 nights. The first 2 were upstairs in an enormous suite with multiple rooms and a view onto the courtyard below. Very comfortable bed and pillows and good shower. The third night was in a smaller room on the ground floor, which was still spacious and comfortable. The owners were warm and welcoming, and interesting to talk with. As well, the reception staff all spoke flawless English, gave us lots of suggestions of places to go and things to do, and also helped make arrangements for us. If you can, have dinner here. Not only delicious, but a bit of a welcome change from the standard Moroccan fare that we’ve had elsewhere.

Dar Seffarine is a beautifully restored guesthouse with a magnificent tiled courtyard. Each room is different, with high ceilings, heavy wooden doors, and light that streams through high windows. We stayed in a room with two double beds, a sitting area with a divan, chest for a coffee table, and two chairs, plus a desk. There were enough plugs and hot water. The room was always clean. There's a beautiful terrace for breakfast - included. The Dar also offers dinner, and it was the best meal we had all week in Fez. Expertly flavored, fresh, plentiful, and eaten at a communal table. The staff were so inviting and helpful. We would go back any time!

This guesthouse was definitely a standout on our trip to Morocco. The interiors are absolutely exquisite/breath taking! You will be blown away, even if you have looked at their website and know what to expect. The staff are lovely too. The most memorable thing however was the food. We had dinner at the guesthouse on both nights. I believe this is usually communal but we dined alone as other guests went out to restaurants. The food was absolutely outstanding. Far better than one of the highest rated in-house restaurants in Fez. I would come back here just for the dinners!

We stayed here for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Tucked away in the heart of the Medina, I was immediately impressed upon arrival. The architecture is simply beautiful, the rooms spacious and very comfortable. I can’t say enough about the staff…so welcoming and hospitable. A special thank you to Youseff, Zouhir and Selma! You all went above & beyond our expectations! By the end of our stay, I felt like you were more like close friends. I can’t thank you enough for accommodating my father of 88yrs old with his mobility issues. Breakfast every morning in the courtyard was perfect for him. Thank you for a memorable stay in Fez!

I cannot say enough good things about Dar Seffarine! This 3-night stay was fantastic. The dar is beyond beautiful -- truly stunning. The staff was very kind and extremely helpful. Thank you to Zouhir for walking out of the walled city to help us find our way from the parking area to the Dar. Zouhir's sister and mother are talented cooks and made delicious meals each evening, which we enjoyed in the pretty courtyard with other guests. The room was so spacious and comfortable and in true Moroccan style. We enjoyed chatting with the owner and architect of Dar Seffarine as well who gave us so much information about the Dar and the city. The rooftop deck was an experience in itself -- gorgeous views of the city. Also, thank you to the staff for arranging a great tour guide for us. Arabie was an encyclopedia of Fes information! He gave a wonderful walking tour inside the walled city and then another great tour outside the walls the next day.

Dar Seffarine is a rare gem of a hotel... you feel like you're staying inside a museum. PROS: - the rooms are stunning. Get a suite on the 2nd floor. - dinner at Dar Seffarine is delightful. You get to meet the other guests, which was a highlight during our time in Fes. - the roof deck! We saw some amazing sunsets and listened to the sublime sounds of Fes... truly breathtaking! - Our room was very quiet! You don't hear noise from other guests! Need to know: - Dar Seffarine is not a luxury hotel, but more like a guest house. - Request for a staff member from Dar Seffarine to meet you when your cab drops you off. The Riad is confusing to find at the first pass. Having someone take you to Dar Seffarine for thr first time helps you navigate the Medina in the future.
