What an amazing pub/restaurant! Lovely beer and christmas decor. Such a quirky and lovely old building. The food was absolutely amazing too. A massive thanks to Ann-Marie and Sam, you were brilliant hosts and to the owner who was also epic. We would highly recommend this as somewhere to eat and drink and we look forward to going back in May
No breakfast offered.
Saw 1 member of staff throughout stay, not welcoming or friendly.
Room needed a thorough clean.
No evening meal(Sunday) but very limited options in a small village.
Expensive for what had.
Key to get in a fiddle.
But room and place had great potential, comfy bed and essentials mostly clean.
A high charge for 1 night considering the above!
Wouldn’t recommend other than location.
A genuinely excellent destination location, this hotel/pub/restaurant is one of the finest in South Somerset. Friendly, efficient staff front a high quality kitchen with high end cuisine & excellent drinks. Even if you’re here for an evening meeting (we were) the atmosphere, discrete but warm, was excellent and the drinks served with grace & aplomb making my guests feel somewhat privileged. I have eaten here many a time and always enjoyed the experience - great food, great drinks, wonderful ambience!! Long may the Devonshire Arms thrive & prosper!
I recently stayed at The Devonshire Arms and couldn’t be more impressed. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The booking process directly was simple and smooth. The room was absolutely lovely and perfectly suited my needs for the weekend. The pricing was reasonable, with a great selection of beverages. Evening meals were excellent – genuinely faultless. The staff were incredibly attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Breakfast was just what the doctor ordered – delicious and satisfying. All in all, a fantastic stay. If I could give it more than 10 out of 10, I absolutely would. An amazing place – highly recommended!
Returned after many years to find my old local is now “posh”. Outstanding menu with an obviously talented chef. Al our choices were beautifully cooked. Venison was best Ive had in a long time and the dessert menu was refreshingly diverse. Went as an anniversary treat and felt we had had a very special evening and money very well spent. Staff were all super helpful and efficient. Well done everyone. Thank you.
Meal with friends for a birthday. Table booked for 8.00pm, by 8.10pm my wife was being told we needed to order because the the kitchen was closing at 8.30pm. Ordered the steak and asked for it rare, meal arrived and the steak was well done and covered in what seems to be more galic butter than the size of the steak. Sent the meal back and they did apologise and offered to cook the meal again. Had to chase the the replacement meal and by the time it arrived the rest of our party had finished their mains!.. (steak again covered in more garlic butter than the size of the steak and having to eat, while everyone else had finished)....I find this really irritating that you're asked how you would like your meal cooked, but they still get it wrong!.....what's the point!...The meal was removed from the bill, but I would have rather had the right cooked meal at the right time. Disappointing as this is a lovely pub and restaurant. Also service could be better and more polite and don't offer a later booking if you end up pushing your customers to order on arrival. When your bill is virtually £300.00 this is poor.
Came here with a coach company from Dorset on way to visit a Cider farm nearby, a Ploughman's lunch was included in the price. When the staff started serving i looked and decided that it wouldnt be enough for both of us so i ordered a bowl of chips. The meal itself consisted of a couple of leaves of lettuce , a radish cut into two , what i think was a boiled egg, a very small slice of cheese and a similar slice of Pate, two or three slices of apple and carrot and a pot of pickle. And bread of sorts in a basket. we will be coming back to this area sometime but not to this eatery
We visited the pub tonight (Monday 23rd June) and was greated by Eloise who was extremely polite and welcoming, our order was taken by Barbs who was also extremely friendly and helpful as were the other staff and the food was well priced and lovely size portions, I highly recommend the Donut, ice cream with Baileys sauce, all the food was fresh and prepared well and we would definitely return, thank you Eloise and Barbs for your hospitality ??
