Die eikendal lodge war die, mit Abstand, schlechteste Unterkunft unserer dreiw?chigen Reise. Den Hype um das Frühstück verstehen wir nicht. Es gab zwar frische Früchte aber das war es dann auch schon. Von dem Frühstück der Bilder auf der Website war nichts zu sehen. Auf unsere Nachfrage wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass die G?ste keine frischen Br?tchen wollen. Man hat uns dann Br?tchen besorgt, die wir beim besten Willen nicht essen konnten. Au?erdem liefen immer aufgestellte Ventilatoren um die Mücken abzuhalten. Das Problem hatten wir in keiner weiten Unterkunft. Die Zimmer sind veraltet. Teppich und Gardinen bedürfen einer Generalreinigung. Ebenso der Pool. Fliesen vermost und die Liegen teilweise kaputt. Von den Auflagen wollen wir gar nicht sprechen. Sauber gemacht hat auch keiner. Müll lag stundenlang herum. Das dazugeh?rige Weingut wollen wir bei der Bewertung ausschlie?en. Das ist toll. Super Weine, tolle Weinprobe, tolles Restaurant. Man erreicht es zu Fu? durch die Weinberge. Leider lief abends um acht Uhr die Bew?sserung, was nicht gerade angenehm war drunter durch zu laufen und die Schuhe sahen auch dementsprechend aus. Die k?nnte auch nachts laufen. Fazit: Wir k?nnen die Lodge auf keinen Fall weiter empfehlen. Da gibt es viel viel bessere.

We can only say a big THANK YOU to Roniel Nieuwoudt for making our stay at the Eikendal Lodge so memorable. The location of the lodge is perfect for excursions around Stellenbosch, the rooms are most generously furnished, the delicious breakfast is laid out in the most beautiful way, all in all a must to experience and not to forget the most beautiful gardens around the lodge and the pool. Geschmackvolle Zimmer in einer sauberen und sch?nen Anlage. Exzellentes Frühstück und leckere Weinverkostung ist inkludiert. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, sowohl in der Unterkunft als auch im angeschlossenen Restaurant.

The Eikendal Lodge is not too far from Cape Town Airport and very close to Stellenbosch. We were a family of 5 ladies traveling together and stayed a week at the Cottage. We just had an amazing week at the Eikendal Lodge. The cottage is very spacious and bright. The rooms are ideally equipped for a family with children or couples and the bathrooms have plenty of space. The view over the vineyards and mountains is stunning and the sunset from the porch is just amazing. It is very quiet and to relax, read or sleep the best spot. After a week at the cottage we were very relaxed! Unfortunately, we enjoyed our terrace for breakfast so much that we never went into the main house for breakfast. But I did go and visit it and it look just perfect. Everything you need was available in the cottage. From coffee machine and tea maker to pans and pots. Cookies and sugar too. Otherwise a Woolworths is just around the corner. The pool and the garden are very clean and it was a treat to have a swim in the morning. Sometimes Gretchen, the cat, came over for a visit when she felt like it. Both cats were too cute and went for a walk every night with Anne. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The security man who looked over the lodge and vineyard during the night time was very nice and always had a smile for everyone. We did feel very safe. Unfortunately we did not go to the vine tasting which we got invited to, since we only had a week and there was so much to see in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek. We just have to come back. It was our first time but for sure not our last time visiting Eikendal Lodge.

Wir hatten zum wiederholten Mal einen perfekten Aufenthalt auf Eikendal ! Die Lage ist perfekt zur Erkundung der Weingegend , die Zimmer sehr sch?n und sehr sauber , super gepflegte Anlage , ein gro?artiges Frühstück und sehr freundliches Personal und sehr sympathisches Management ! Unbedingte Empfehlung!

Eikendal is a manicured, intimate inn with totally personalized attention, and a great breakfast to boot. Very large rooms have patios that open out to a lawn and beyond, vineyards and mountains that look completely fake. You’re just a few minutes from downtown Stellenbosch, which is one of the lovelier towns you’ll ever go to, and around you are miles and miles of vineyards to hike and cycle around, and visit. The Lodge has particularly beautiful landscaping, meticulously attended-to. The bathrooms are the size of an entire New York apartment. The sheets are beautifully crisp. And the whole place is overseen by a lovely and affectionate black and white cat, who appears at night to keep an eye on her domain. :-)
