This is an idealic oasis in a beautiful part of Sri Lanka. The cabins are set over looking a little river with birds and monkeys playing around. The pool is a great size and the service is exceptional. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and help arrange other activities for us. The restaurant is set on a lovely terrace and we highly recommend all the juices, lassis and smoothies.

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds. There is a large open terrace overlooking a river. There is also a courtyard and a garden between the terrace and river. Our room was spacious and clean with tea and coffee facilities. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. There was a lovely pool area for a dip at the end of the day. The staff were polite and friendly. We took the 4 hour afternoon safari organised by the hotel and it was totally amazing. We saw so many animals and birds. including elephants, buffalo, deer, crocodiles, 2 types of monkeys, mongeese and a lone jackal. We ate at the hotel on the first night. I was happy with my meal of jumbo battered prawns and French fries. My husband didn’t enjoy his seafood rice as much. Breakfast was good and I loved the fact my coffee was served with hot milk. I felt our 2 night stay was excellent value for such a beautiful setting.

We would like to thank the manager Mika and the whole team for the very friendly and helpful service, not only in the hotel but with all our activities. The hotel is very clean, the rooms spacious including a terras with view on the river, the hotel is like you see on the pictures. The pool is great and if the kids wanted to swim in the evening this was no issue. The food was very good and very precise (meaning they took into account all requirements, especially the ones from the kids). We also liked that the staff enterained our children like doing a ride on a bike. I see comments about many insects in the rooms but this was very rare. We recommend this hotel.

This is a great, boutique hotel. Nestled in the ‘jungle’ overlooking a lovely waterhole. A great welcome from the wonderful staff. Mika and his team were fab. We used this for a base to go on safari and to visit the Elephant rescue centre. The rooms were excellent, even an outdoor/indoor shower. The pool was refreshing after a long day in the jeep searching for wildlife.

A nice little place tucked down a dirt track. Right on the river. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are very helpful and the surroundings are beautiful. The bathrooms are are open roofed which sounds lovely but are pretty much a breeding ground for mosquitoes and there are no nets around the beds. Also makes it very easy for bugs, spiders and insects to get in. So in the mornings it’s always a bit of a gamble of what will be waiting for you! We ate once at the restaurant but it wasn’t good. Pretty sure it was uncle bens rice, so we went onto the main ***** and ate at the onion cafe which was amazing!

Tucked away down a rough and muddy road you turn into a nondescript driveway that hides the relative luxury of Eliyanth. It was raining on our arrival and we were greeted wih large umbrellas and staff who whisked away our bags. After refreshing welcome drinks we checked into a very large king-bed room with several additional beds for guests in the loft. Immediate room appeal hits you as does its outstanding cleanliness. Other reviewers have mentioned the facilities, food, staff and grounds - with views of wildlife across a flowing river - which are first class, so I won't repeat them. There is an area-wide wi-fi/data reception issue that has nothing to do with the Eliyanth, as you may discover when you also take a safari, which we did and was arranged seamlessly by Eliyanth. Be prepared to pay with cash if cards don't upload. We tried for at least 3 minutes before success! Eliyanth had the nicest linens, softest towels and best pillows we experienced during our trip to Sri Lanka, and was complemented by a large and modern bathroom. Fans and airconditioning made for an exceptionally good night's sleep, which was important to us as we needed to be ready for a 5.30AM start to our safari the next day. Eliyanth is one place you can confidently book and expect a level of facilities and services that make holidays abroad a bit more special given it affordability. By the way, our safari from Eliyanth was brilliant.

Eliyanth Udawalawa is a fantastic boutique hotel. Elegant property, very clean rooms and linen, pool facility, good food, friendly staff. About 5km away from Udawalawa National Park. I had a pleasant stay. Recommend without hesitation!
