Fabulous stay, beautiful room, lovely scenery just on the river

Very nice friendly place right on the banks of the River Thames, so good for a morning walk before breakfast. Breakfast was very nice and met my expectations.
Room was comfortable and had what was required, although the foot fall from the room above was very noticeable during my stay, which was a little annoying.

Ferryman's Cottage is part of the Beetle and Wedge. My room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. The food and service at the B&W was excellent with pleasant staff and just the right amount of attention. Breakfast was first class with hot croissant and a well cooked feast whilst enjoying the view over the River Thames.
Ferryman's Cottage is a hidden treat and I would certainly return on a future occasion.

Lovely breakfast. Staff helpful and generally friendly. Did ask for room service the second day of our stay but this did not happen. Was corrected later in the day.

Comfortable rooms, lovely location right by the river, great food in the resturant and really attentive and helpful staff. But please... add a couple of quid to the room rate and get some decent toilet tissue!

Just stayed a couple of nights here. Very welcoming and our room was lovely. All of the meals in the restaurant were excellent. Service was exemplary. Great walks along the river which is on the doorstep and so our dog loved it too!

We were at the Beetle & Wedge for the 3rd or 4th time last New Year's Eve. We'd been before for dinner B&B and really rated the accommodation and food. On NYE 4 of us checked into 2 of the 4 rooms. The rooms seemed nice enough when we checked in (we had a couple of drinks before dinner in the other room so didn't spend much time at all in ours). The dinner and celebrations that night were great. Food was excellent as usual. And they even sang happy birthday when they brought out a cake that my father in law had made. During the night I literally couldn't sleep at all because the stink of the room was nauseating. It smelled like the sewers. It was really overpowering. Even my husband noticed, and he can barely smell a thing on the best of days. So, the following morning, I felt really rough, and it wasn't due to celebratory drinks the night before! I complained about the smell to the staff and was told that they knew there had been an issue before in that room, they'd got a plumber in to fix the problem, and had HOPED that it was fixed. So they weren't certain that it had been fixed at all. And then they said that the bookings for the other 2 rooms had been cancelled, so why on earth did they put us in that room when they had 2 others available. They didn't even really apologise, let alone offer any sort of discount on the bill, or a good will gesture. Felt pretty let down, and disappointed in the end. Especially as we were there for my birthday celebrations, having missed out on a big birthday the previous year due to covid. As it's far from home, we would never go there without booking a room. Pretty sure we won't be risking doing that again. Such a shame, as previously it was one of our favourite overnight breaks for the two of us, and family get-togethers.
