Simply one of the best places to stay if you want luxury and wildlife without compromising on either. The staff are brilliant and have a huge knowledge of the local wildlife and landscape, this was the third time we have stayed here and nothing is ever a problem. The rooms are immaculate, the food is spot on . See you all again soon.

We had an amazing time at Galoya lodge. Everything about the Lodge was perfect. The staff were helpful, attentive and very professional We did a boat safari and a jeep safari and were accompanied by the lodges resident naturalist, Isuru. As well as being full of knowledge about all the animals we encountered he was excellent company with a great sense of fun. I would recommend you ask for him specifically when booking any nature activities

The absolute highlight of our trip! Our stay at Gal Oya Lodge was so wonderful, we were treated incredibly well by staff, always greeted with a cold towel and freshly made drink when we returned to the lodge. It was so peaceful. We did the jeep safari and the boat safari and both were absolutely magical. We saw elephants, over 30 different species of birds, a crocodile, land and water monitors and the resident giant squirrel. On the Jeep safari Isuru and Jaga kept stopping to point out animals, even on the drive back. We saw 40 elephants with them in the national park. It was a phenomenal experience. A huge thank you to all the staff that made sure we had such a wonderful time.

Not a five star hotel although prices suggest it should be. It’s a jungle experience. It is in desperate need of some updating of soft furnishings, towels and bed linens. Food was excellent, the room’s spacious and clean. Bathrooms interesting with toilets with a view. Staff were brilliant and could not have been more helpful, especially as my husband was not feeling well. They made soup for him and kept checking he was alright.

Had a great time at Gal Oya lodge. The staff and management were very friendly, and helpful. The food and service was top quality. They dealt with a very difficult situation after the recent cyclone and found lots of fun activities for us all. Isuru, our guide took us was very informative and knowledgeable. He explained everything clearly, identifying wildlife and gave us good detail about the local area and culture. I would highly recommend the Gal Oya lodge.

We stayed 4 nights during the recent cyclone and the staff were so helpful. Hirshan and Chaminda made our stay. They went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances. Chaminda makes a mean Masala Chai :)

Superb rooms and amazing activities, serene location, we had a lot of fun and learning with Isuru karunarathna. Food was also amazing.

Gal Oya Lodge is truly one of the most exceptional places we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka. Tucked deep within the jungle, the setting is serene and untouched — perfect for those looking to disconnect and soak in raw nature. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and open to the sounds of the forest, making the experience feel both luxurious and grounded. We had a fantastic time with Isuru Karunarathna, our guide, who was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. He made every activity — from wildlife spotting to cultural walks — deeply enriching. His ability to identify birds, animals, and local flora, along with his insights into the region’s culture, added a whole new layer to the trip. What stood out most was the warmth and attention from the staff — genuinely helpful, kind, and eager to make our stay memorable. Highly, highly recommend Gal Oya Lodge if you’re looking to truly experience the wild side of Sri Lanka in comfort.

Our stay at Gal Oya lodge was amazing! Great environment, room was amazing especially with the private pool and we really enjoyed embracing the no WiFi. The food and service was amazing, especially impressive in such a remote place! Special thank you to Isuru our naturist throughout our stay - he was super knowledgable and friendly! Also to Upul who also made our experience special with a great jeep safari! Laxman was a great guide on the monkey mountain hike!
