The room was very spacious, beds were reasonably comfortable and furniture was adequate, but that’s where the positive news ends. Nearly all other criticisms could be easily remedied but the owners either don’t understand what makes a good traveler’s experience or don’t care. In no particular order … Our room was on the first floor, and the narrow spiral staircase was difficult when carrying large bags. At least we weren’t on floor 2 or 3, so it could have been worse. There was a single electrical outlet on each side of the bed but it was occupied by the bedside lamp plug. They could easily plug in an outlet splitter (about 5€) but they don’t bother, so one must choose between their device charger and the lamp. WiFi was terrible, at least in our room at the end of the corridor. We often couldn’t connect at all, or if we could then it was very slow and would soon drop completely. I had to walk down the corridor and sit on those narrow spiral steps to do a download. The bathroom was small, which is forgivable although unnecessary with such a large room, and had a tiny sink and narrow shower. Towels were small and thin. It housed the only tiny trash can in the room. Inside the door was a huge desk but with a very narrow chair opening. The chair provided wouldn’t fit within it, so if you wanted to do some work there you’d be out of luck. It was just a big surface on which to pile things. On a positive note, there was a small fridge beside the desk. There was a huge armoire in the room but, mysteriously, only half of it was accessible. The other half was permanently closed. What’s with that? Since we were attending a funeral and celebration of life there were a few changes of clothes needed, with insufficient space & hangers to keep them in the armoire. Breakfast was extremely spartan. Hard boiled eggs and some good breads were great but there was very little beyond that. Just a bit of thin, cheap, pressed cold cuts and similar slices of cheese. Coffee, tea, etc was good and unlimited. Friends stayed in room 3 which was above the kitchen and smelled completely foul, to the point where they gave up their payment for the second night and moved elsewhere. The staff claimed they’d never heard of such a thing but I’ve read similar comments on other reviews, so they’ve clearly been told before. I hate dishonesty from hospitality hosts! Other friends on a higher floor had an infestation of bugs in their room. Again, I’ve read this in other reviews. Why can’t they get this under control? The front door of the inn is locked after breakfast until 3 p.m. If you arrive in that period to check in you’re out of luck and can’t even leave your bags inside. There are cleaning staff at work but nobody to open the door to a new guest. Really?! These many small things just add up to a host that doesn’t care about hospitality, which is very sad because the place has so much potential. P.s. We’re not German but we lived in Germany for 5

Very disappointed with our stay; we looked at their webpage before we booked, sadly our expectations were not met. They deserve a 2 star rating and that would be extremely generous. Firstly they allocated us a room on the 3rd floor, as there was no lift we had to slave our large suitcases up an extremely narrow and steep staircase; not an easy task. The room was not properly cleaned, obviously someone has been eating grapes, the stalks were still on the table and window sill, and stayed there during our stay. The doona cover had been ripped and the pillows and mattress had seen better times, both extremely soft. For €100 per night without breakfast I would also expect more amenities in the room. There was no rubbish bin; only a small one in the bathroom. No phone, no alarm clock, no full length mirror, no box of tissues. There was no folio in the room either, no advice on how to connect to the internet or when breakfast is available or what’s on the menu in the restaurant or what the opening hours are. No tourist information as in places on interest and so on. The TV was placed to the left of the bed, so you could only watch when lying on your side or sitting up facing the TV. One of the chairs in the room was as good as broken, when you sat down one of the back legs gave way. The bathroom was extremely small, to dry yourself off you actually had to step out of the bathroom, the shower had an old fashioned shower curtain. The water turned from hot to cold during your shower and back to hot. They only provided shower gel, no shampoo and they didn’t replace the empty bottle of either. Towels didn’t get replaced during our 5 day stay. Even the one we placed on the floor didn’t get replaced for 2 days. The towels were on the smaller side. The breakfast buffet was very small and the same every day. While the quality was relatively good, there wasn’t really anything exciting, no croissants or pastries on offer, Saturday and Sunday were the same as during the week. There is no on-site parking and street parking is limited to 2 hours. We will not return and can’t really recommend this place to anyone. Based on the above they are certainly overpriced, not worth €100 per night.
