Been staying at the Howdale for over 20 years. Always well looked after by Louisa and Kevin. Great room with marvellous views while Kevin's breakfasts are amazing.

A great little break at the Howdale. It had everything you needed - a comfy room, a tasty breakfast - with a fabulous sea view, a friendly Yorkshire greeting, free parking, and located very close to the North Bay and 20 yards from the cricket ground. A memorable visit as I had not watched cricket there for 47 years since I lived in Scarborough nearly 50 years ago.

Great stay at the Howdale ,the room was spotlessly clean , great tea and coffee facilities, superb shower and loads of coat hangers in wardrobe, Towels changed daily if required and rooms made up daily , Breakfast was fantastic ,good choice and nothing was too much trouble if you’ve got any specific requests ,Louisa and Kevin were great hosts very informative and nothing was too much trouble for them ,highly recommended would definitely stay here again many thanks Steve and Karen

A friendly and comfortable hotel in a great location with stunning views. Breakfast was very nice. Louisa was very helpful and welcoming. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The bed was comfy. We had a lovely long weekend break.

Now our third Stay. Warm and friendly. Good value, especially with the breakfast option. In an excellent location for both North & South Bay. Rooms are a good size and immaculately presented. The upper levels are only accessible via stairs but the owner made us aware of this before we committed to the booking. It is an older style property but with all the modern amenities you could require. Off street parking available too, but we have left our car parked up the last few times due to the fact there are great bus and train links to nearby Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Filey, Pickering, York etc,etc if you fancy a day out and maybe a glass or two of something. Close to Scarborough Open Air Theater, so only a 10 minute stroll to your gig, Peasholm Park on the doorstep, Sea Life Centre and the new Aquamare swimming pool all within easy reach as you take in some sea views on the way. Great views due to it's elevated position, but it is a gentle easy walk up from beach level. Howdale is situated at the quieter North Bay, but this has a great beach and plenty places to eat, drink and get beach supplies. If you wan the more bustling South Bay then it is a 10 min walk over the castle direction (a much shorter route than you would think) or a 40min very gentle stroll along the sea level Marine Parade. There are also regular open top buses if you fancy that. All in all Howdale has now become our go to for our trips to Scarborough because for price, location and welcome I think you would struggle to find better

Very well situated with breathtaking views on the seafront, Howdale is a very pleasant traditional B&B, comfortable, warm, with an excellent breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring. The host is lovely, friendly, and very helpful. Free car park is a bonus on the busy sea front. A walk down to the harbour is around 10/20 mns depending on fitness. Coming back up is a little more challenging! Peasholme park 5 ms. Central really for all touristy things. Will visit again.

Location is brilliant the room was lovely and very clean. tea , coffee in room breakfast was beautiful really enjoyed it Louisa could not help us enough she was very friendly and we asked for a room without booking and she let us have a room for nite value was great thank you and will stop again

A lovely stay in the biggest hotel room we’ve had in Britain with a brilliant view. Louisa was very friendly with a mine of useful local information. Breakfast was good quality with lots of choice for everyone. The lounge with games and wine glasses to borrow was a nice touch.

Gorgeous place...clean and very comfortable. Lovely brekkie and Louisa was the perfect host giving useful info on where to go and what to do. The only difficulty was that our room was on the 4th floor with no lift but we knew that before we booked! However it was worth it for the view...very proud that my last two climbs were done without stopping on the landings! It was in a great position right on the sea front and handy for both bays and we had fab weather too! Great walks along North beach and in Peasholm Park; also South beach and South cliff gardens. I would definitely stay again ( perhaps on a lower floor) and highly recommend!

Absolutely brilliant place. Lovely host's great breakfast and great view's. Nice and clean rooms. Near to town. We go back every year we love it. Short walk to town center lots of shops. Lovey parks near by. And a castle you can go visit. The beach is good.
