We stayed here as it so convenient for the Blenheim horse trials , this has been a regular thing for the last few years. The rooms , food and staff are all to be highly commended .A wonderful place.

We shut the shutters and had a lovely night's sleep in room 1. Probably helped by all the beer and wine consumed from about 4pm ! Breakfast was superb as well.

Lovely restaurant offering lovely food. Good service. Great choice on the menu. Not the cheapest of places. Table of seven we had a cosy alcove all to ourselves.

This hotel is excellent. The food is absolutely top notch and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Really refreshing to see a well run and exceptional business, well done, we’ll be back.

Loved this beautiful pub and the surrounding area! We had a great romantic weekend away in a lovely room and the breakfast and dinner was to die for! Enjoyed Blenheim Palace, Bicester Village and driving round the Cotswold villages. Can't fault the super friendly team who looked after us and provided lots of great local tips on what to do and where to go. And so nice to stay somewhere that's independent and not bland! We'll be back.

The Valentines menu was superb, fantastic quality ingredients cooked to perfection. The service from Nick and 2 young ladies made it a very special evening, we feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful establishment within walking distance.

The food at Killingworth Castle is outstanding, and worth travelling a long way for. Service, by a knowledgeable, friendly and apparently well motivated front-of-house team, is impeccable. Tables are well spaced, and the restaurant as a whole exudes calm, homely comfort. Had the accommodation been of an equivalent standard, there would be five stars at the head of this review. Unfortunately, however, our room (1) was dingy and – to put it as politely as possible – a model of compactness. Lights were needed even during the day. Noise from the room above was inescapable. I’m no judge of the quality of bed linen, but a rather lumpy duvet induced an unpleasant amount of perspiration. The biggest disappointment was the tiniest bathroom we’d ever come across in a hotel anywhere. To describe this as an en-suite room (and a “superior” room, at that) is to take liberties with the meaning of the term; and to charge ￡200 a night for it, as though it were luxury accommodation, is a cheek. To anyone reading this, my advice is to eat there and enjoy the top quality cuisine. Stay there if you like throwing money away.

The room smelled of mould, the furniture does not look clean, the bedding is cheap poly-cotton and synthetic. Through the night the room is lit by a green safety light that cannot be switched off. In the bathroom there is nowhere to put toothbrush or toiletries and no shelf or soap dish in the shower, despite a cubicle too small to bend down in. The hot water is scorching but there is no mixer tap in the sink. Clearly no one has thought about practicalities here. We left after one night despite paying a very full price for the two night minimum, but the room was so poor we preferred to write off the experience and go elsewhere. The food was good. Eat but don’t stay!

What a great find! Lovely rooms, atmospheric pub atmosphere with fantastic food. The staff team were welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. Our evening meal was one of the best we have had in England for a long time and breakfast was as the chef was heard to comment "no ordinary fry-up". We can vouch for that! We will definitely come back for a repeat visit.

Had the tasting menu + flight of wines . At ￡85 + ￡40 for wine was very reasonable. Food was exquiste as was the wine. Service was excellent. Location is quaint and impressive as you drive up. Ample parking with electric charging point. Would highly reccomend
