Yes, you do have to go to the top of the house,but the lovely bedroom and more than serviceable bathroom are a delight when you get there . John is more than helpful . Breakfast was a welcome change from the full fry up . We left feeling our stopover had added to our holiday rather than just a place to stay while we journeyed to Isle of Lewis .Beware if you go in January though . All four hotels closed .

One of the one or two best B&Bs I’ve stayed in over the past 10 years. John is a fantastic host, the room and bathroom are furnished to a very high standard and very comfortable, and it’s a great location within Moffat. Thank you John for a great stay.

We spent a lovely two nights in Kirkview House (24/25Aug). John is an excellent host, full of interesting information about the area. Breakfast was delicious and hearty. The room was large, comfortable and spotless, as was the bathroom. Very elegant house. Highly recommend.

A beautiful stop over, gorgeous building with period features and plenty of character. The room was spacious and very comfortable, excellent bathroom, and the host John was perfect, really was a pleasure too meet him. And will go back.easy too park, and lots too do.

Brilliant stay at Kirkview house, it’s being meticulously restored. Our room was large and beautifully decorated to a high standard. Lovely large bathroom and your own private landing. John was the perfect host and very engaging. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Great room. Roomy. Private. Good bed. Good bathroom facilities. Very convenient location. Moffat is an interesting little town. Stopped one night en route to NW Scotland. John our host was excellent. Lovely breakfast served with plenty of information about the history of the house.

We stayed here on our way to the Isle of Skye and it was fantastic. John was a very charming and informative host who cooked us the best breakfast we had during our four weeks in the UK. Porridge with blueberries, Scottish salmon, Spanish ham, eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms on sourdough toast - delicious ! The bedroom is beautifully decorated with a view of the church, a very comfortable bed and a lovely big, bright, bathroom. John kept us entertained with his interesting tales of the history of the house and area and we wished we could have stayed longer in this delightful B & B.

10/10. From a Yorkshireman. Great location for bars & restaurants. Great base for country walks. free parking very close to accommodation. Room Excellent. Extremely comfortable bed. Good views. Great decor especially the stone wall. Breakfast a treat . Made to order fresh & tasty. Well worth the money. .

Had one night stop over on the way to the Highlands 07/09. John the host was very friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay pleasant. As it was during the recent 'heatwave' we were very pleased to find that John had had the forethought to provide a new fan to keep us cool and had left the option of a spare sheet so we could sleep comfortably without using the duvet. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise we were expecting a continential style breaksfast but no ,John was there at the appointed breakfast time to greet us and cook us a lovely breakfast of scambled eggs on sour dough with mushrooms and tomatoes topped with serano ham and smoked salmon. This was to be followed by more toast topped with his daughters homemade blackcurrant jam but unfortunately we were too full to sample it. Good location with plenty of nice places to eat within walking distance. We had an evening meal at Hugo's in the town centre (5 min walk away) and it was very nice. The room was on the top floor with two flights of stairs but we were made aware of this at the time of booking and offered a full refund if it was going to be a problem.
