Reasonable service, nice people, but relatively simple. Beautiful grounds and surrounding area, with a nice pool area and a little stream which our children enjoyed as well as a good breakfast. However, some features of our tent could be updated (the light wasn't working and the water filter was out of use) and there was a slightly less personal feel. Overall, a reasonably priced place which is good for what it is, but could do with a bit more personality to make it stunning.

Off the beaten track, this charming tent lodge is idyllic. Simple, comfortable, clean, spacious and surrounded by the most exquisite nature. Pleasant staff and a nice breakfast. We ate at El Hornito in Uvita, an Argentinian restaurant where you'll find really nice empanadas and pizza ??

We come back to Manoas year after year (going on 7 now) because of the beautiful, peaceful, quiet jungle setting and great staff. If you need anything, they go out of their way to provide it. We’ve stayed in the glamping tents, the villas and this time we stayed in the big house (Casa Rio) with our friends and it was awesome. We saw monkeys in the trees toucans and Scarlett macaws! The pool is lovely and hiking down to the river is fun for a cool dip! No bugs at Manoas, which is a relief. The cafe offers nice breakfast options and delicious fresh fruit as soon as you sit down. We’ve always enjoyed our meals there. The cafe serves breakfast only so stop at the BM in Uvita before heading up to Manoas to stock up on essentials. It’s a very special place and we look forward to returning next year!

We stayed in one of the glamping tents at Manoas and it was an experience being immersed in the rainforest. It is about 10minutes drive along hilly, rough terrain so a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle would be recommended. The tent is quite spacious with comfortable beds and a decent shower. A fridge is provided but there was no kettle, cups or basic crockery / cutlery provided - we asked at reception and managed to get a kettle and 2 cups. Would be good to have some of these basics provided within the tent. After arriving we had to go back down to Uvita for dinner as the restaurant wasn't open and also get supplies for breakfast as we thought our breakfast was included. This wasn't ideal, so worth checking in advance before you arrive (or bring food with you). This would save the rough drive back to town in the dark. The swimming pool is nice, but quite small, especially when quite a few people are in it. We enjoyed going to the river for a swim which was very refreshing and nice to be in such a beautiful relaxing setting. We did a whale watching trip which was fantastic as we saw dolphins and a humback whale.

What a gem of a place. The accommodations were simple but roomy and comfortable. The grounds are like a garden with nature everywhere you look. The restaurant is remarkably good even though it is tiny and only serves a few everyday. The views from the restaurant are lovely. Walking the grounds you will see an ever changing variety of birds and nature like the spectacular Morpho butterfly. I picked up 50 species of birds without a high level of effort just on the grounds. And what a treat waking to nature sounds everyday. WiFi covers the entire grounds and Steve and his staff are top notch. Friendly and helpful. No complaints except that we didn’t stay long enough. Do yourself a favor and say here soon!!!

Beautiful jungle oasis. We stayed in the 4 person hacininda house. It was perfect for my husband and 2 kids ages 9 and 13 years. We had breakfast and dinner there which was free for kids under 10 years. The food was good. And the water was all filtered and good to drink. The pool was perfect. It was small but it over looked the jungle which was very cool. We had a lot of fun playing Marco Polo in it. The kids had blast playing in the river. It was like staying in a furnished arbnb with a personal chef and AC.

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children ages 9 and 6) enjoyed 3 nights at Manoas in the Casa Heliconia option (a stand alone Villa on the property) on our adventure along the central/south Pacific region of Costa Rica recently. We feel very fortunate to have stumbled upon Manoas while searching for accommodation options in the Dominical - Uvita - Ojochal area! We had a wonderful time, and right from initial inquiry, the team at Manoas was incredibly helpful, and very prompt with their service and support. Manoas is up in the hills above the Uvita area, and they have some "glamping" tents along with around 3 stand-alone villas of varying sizes. 4 wheel drive is required to get to Manoas along the dirt/rock road, and takes around 7-10 minutes from the main costenra sur highway cutting through Uvita. The drive isn't bad at all, just will appreciate the high clearance and 4WD to get there. It isn't the road that you will dread having to tackle again though when you go out to explore for the day! The location is beautiful, backed by forest and walking distance to a river (or convergence of rivers) around the grounds. There are plenty of birds, sounds of howler monkeys, a small pool which the kids loved, ability to walk the river, and a small restaurant serving breakfasts at very good rates for how plentiful the food is, and options of dinner service too. We enjoyed breakfast each morning of our stay, and had one dinner with drinks. There is a beautiful yoga deck adjacent to the breakfast/restaurant area that they appeared to be readying for a yoga group coming soon - it looks like an amazing yoga deck with rainforest views surrounding it, and Manoas can be a tranquil and comfortable space. The staff allowed you to be very independent, but were very helpful if you needed anything. I think the best times would be to ask at breakfast or dinner, as the reception seemed to be just staffed for arrivals which was perfectly fine for us. Casa Helconia was a downhill walk from the area of the tents and restaurant service area, adjacent to the pool and a close walk to the river. There was parking for our rental vehicle right at the casa. The first floor is a small, fully stocked kitchen, bathroom (with terrific indoor and ok outdoor shower), and small seating area. You had to go outside to the patio/seating (where there was a bbq, table and chairs, hammock) access the stairs up to the two bedrooms. The bedrooms each had A/C available, as did the main lower floor, but also the ability to open windows and enjoy the breezes. There were loads of butterflies, hummingbirds, toucans, a howler who came to a close by tree one afternoon, and some small lizards around. It was a nice, quiet, and relaxing time! While in the Uvita area, we explored Parque Nacionel Marino Ballena at low tide, Playa Hermosa, Uvita with some body board and surf board rentals (and lessons available), the grounds of Manoas, the Uvita Cascade Verde/catarata, and we went to Villas Alturas ani

We absolutely love staying at Manoas in Uvita. We come back here year after year even though there are many other options in the area. The owners, Steve and Tatum, are wonderful people and always go out of their way to make sure we have a great experience. The accommodations are terrific. We’ve stayed in the glamping tents in past years and more recently we rented one of the 2 story Villas near the pool (which is so lovely and relaxing, surrounded by rainforest, unique vegetation, sounds of nature.) We saw 2 Scarlett Macaw’s fly overhead and one year we saw Toucans in the trees. You can hear the Howler Monkeys in the distance. So cool! We loved the hot tub at our villa at night. Especially after a 4 hour hike to Santa Lucia Waterfalls with Enrique! Check that out too! Steve will hook you up with things to see and do in the area. The main big house is fantastic too, for a group of 8-10 people. It has an amazing kitchen and 4 bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. Laundry room too. The upstairs has a big open air deck with large dining table that seats at least 10. And a hang out area with couches and TV/music. I hope to bring a small group there one day for a wellness retreat. Even though our Villa had a full kitchen, we ate breakfast most mornings at the cafe at Manoas, as the food and service are wonderful! Grocery store is 5 minutes away if we wanted to grab food and cook in our villa. The beautiful beaches are very close too. Maybe a 10 minute drive to Whale’s Tail (def go at low tide) and we like Playa Hermosa which is close by as well. Steve even helped me totally surprise my husband with renewing our vows at the yoga platform. We’ll never forget it! Definitely check this place out. The staff are very friendly, professional and helpful and always respond promptly to any questions or requests.
