The cottage is very clean. Communication was excellent from the first moment until I checked out. You have everything you need in this cottage.

Cute cottage, but very thin and walls (could hear everything from our neighbors including their bathroom fan that made it sound like we were in an airplane). Also, there was black mold on the shower ceiling, and the jetted tub had not been cleaned out (was visibly covered in hairs).

We had a very enjoyable stay at Sleepy Forest Cottages. Check-in officially starts at 5pm, which is quite late—especially when traveling a long distance, and this time of year it’s already dark by then. Fortunately, we received a text that our cottage was ready at 2:30pm. Had we known sooner, we would have headed up earlier. The property itself is quiet and clean, with convenient parking right by the cottage. The room is on the smaller side but still offered plenty of space for two people. The gas fireplace was a cozy touch, though it’s set on a maximum 30-minute timer and makes a noticeable countdown clicking sound, so we had to get up frequently to keep it going. The king bed was comfortable, and the separate bathroom featured a walk-in shower with two shower heads. The highlight was definitely the large jacuzzi tub for two—very relaxing and a perfect way to unwind. The smart TV mounted above the fireplace swivels so you can watch comfortably from the bed or the jacuzzi. The location is excellent, with restaurants and shops within walking distance and The Village just a short drive away. Grizzly Manor Café around the corner was fantastic for breakfast. Saucy Mama’s in The Village is also highly recommended—our pastrami pizza was unique and delicious. The lake is just down the street with a nice park, and we even spotted a few resident raccoons exploring the area in search of snacks. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at a very reasonable rate. We would definitely return.

The check-in process at Sleepy Forest Cottages was extremely easy, and the staff were very friendly, which made for a positive start to our stay. This was my first time visiting Big Bear and staying in a cottage, and overall the experience was enjoyable and memorable. The location is convenient, with most attractions and activities within about a mile, which made getting around very easy. That said, there were a few drawbacks that stood out. Upon arrival, we noticed a bullet hole in the door, which was unexpected and concerning, as it is something I have never encountered before. Additionally, while reviews mentioned that the property had been renovated, the paintwork appeared poorly done in several areas, with visible scuffing and damage that made the space feel unfinished. Unfortunately, the bed was also quite uncomfortable, which affected the quality of our sleep. We did consider relocating to another property but ultimately decided to stay for the two nights. While the cottage has potential to be much better with some improvements, the stay price we paid was reasonable for the location.

It was very clean. Bed was great - firm! Fireplace, double shower heads, jetted tub, small kitchenette (microwave, coffeemaker, fridge, sink). We never saw the staff - everything was ready when we got there. Communication was through text with a code for the door lock. They checked on us from time to time. Needed a lot of cosmetic work! Cracked ceiling, peeling paint, cracked bathroom tiles, wifi a little slow, sink and bathtub showed some porcelain damage, chintzy door lock.

Not like in the pictures at all. Dull and small rooms, quite cramped. Took us a day to adjust to the heater on the wall as it made a sound and heated the room unevenly OK if just visiting big bear and have a lot of activities planned and not having to spend time in the room

Check in was odd. They never reached out to me ahead of the check-in time, when we arrived there, we had to scan a QR code and upload info. During check, in the web site / text messages we triggered with the QR code —mentioned we should have received a message so we could have processed that earlier than day of check-in. That would have been nice because then we would have already had our room information and code beforehand rather than having to do it at Sleepy Forest Cottages, outside the front desk (which had no one inside at 730pm). Otherwise. Nice stay.

I liked that the place was clean and close to a lot of walking areas. What I had trouble with was the fireplace smell was a little too strong. However, in the morning I didn't smell it at all. So overall, it was not a problem.
