Came to Taboo for a work offsite and we were situated in the most gorgeous room at the Boathouse. Rooms are spacious and have a lovely view of the lake. Fireplace and a deep tub that I know all of us made use of. We ate off property at the Muskoka Bay Resort and that was the best dinner we all enjoyed. The food was subpar at Taboo unfortunately. They served browned burned eggs one morning, not a lot of healthy options and lunches and the one dinner we had there were not good. We also asked several times for the heat to be turned on and it never happened.
We stayed for one night at Taboo. I was a bit worried considering the inconsistent reviews. We stayed in a lake view room with 2 queen beds. The room was very clean and spacious. You could see it was recently renovated. The bathroom was very nice with a separate tub and rainfall shower. Our view was a partial one (due to large trees) of the lake but we really were not bothered by this. We didn’t spend a whole lot of time in the room anyways. The patio was clean and not full of spider webs like others have mentioned. We used all 3 pools and they were very well maintained. The lake was lovely as was the beach. We went into town for dinner (the restaurant was just ok) and had breakfast at the boathouse in the morning. The boathouse is beautiful and I’d definitely like to try dinner there next time. Breakfast was outstanding with large portions. We were happy with our stay and felt the staff were amazing everywhere we went. I’m not sure why this resort isn’t rated higher. We think it’s a fabulous place! We look forward to returning!
Taboo resort is beautiful with trees and potted flowers everywhere and of course the picturesque Muskoka water. The Lakeview room was spacious and clean with a balcony. Get a 2nd 3rd or 4th level to see above the trees . Everyone we interacted with was very helpful and accommodating. Food at the Boathouse restaurant was delicious and service was great! Lots of places to swim. Kayaks were available, though we didn't have time to use them. We loved the area and will definitely be visiting g Taboo again!
We booked a golf play and stay package and paid the additional amount for a lake view veranda. Upon entering the room it was clear that the so called lake view was if you pulled aside the mass of trees obscuring the lake. I politely asked the gentleman on the front desk if we could move to a room with an actual view as ours was totally obstructed. His bizarre response was “thank you for pointing that out”. I reacted less than positively stating I wasn’t asking g to be thanked to which he further responded “ I will pass your concerns on”. We stayed here many times in the past and the attitude from the desk was clearly “ so what”. A lovely area but we wil not be returning . Photo attached of the beautiful lake view ….
Perfect getaway . It was during the week so its was peaceful and quiet. Rooms and facilities were clean, views from balcony priceless, plus the heated . The only issue was the food. Only a couple of options on site. We ended up driving out 10 minutes.
I just rejoined Tripadvisor specifically to put in a review for this amazing resort! We had the best time because of the wonderful staff and all the care they put into maintaining the pool, beach and the beautiful restaurant - especially magical at sunset - all spectacular! Thank you, Robin the manager, and the entire Taboo team for helping make our stay so memorable! PS I highly recommend the upgrade to a Lakeview room… What a view to wake to up!

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are happy you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Rooms were clean and updated but very dark. Staff was excellent. We selected a lakes room on the first floor. Paid a premium for it. We’re very disappointed that here was no lake view. Trees had been allowed to grow up well past the first floor even impeding views on the second. No where in the website was this mentioned. Every room showed a beautiful lake view. VERY MISLEADING AT BEST.
rooms tired ,chipped, one restaurant not usable because of wet ,slippery wooden stairs. stranded in lobby for 25 min as elevator was "down again", it happens often. no free drink, no comp, no apology, duty manager was curt and impolite, his elavator did not work but i was a imposition. food in rest was not great chick fingers overdone, fish and chips smelled too fishy, all for $60 +. really , it is true ,one option for food, they know they have you unless you drive into Gravenhurst, so it shows front desk was unmanned more than half the times i was there. one middle aged lady on fronk desk with short hair was super professional and helped me with some things. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY PROBLEMS staff park golf carts at reception all day but never to offer to guests. My suprise 35 th annivers for my wife was a fail. SO TABOO GETS BIG FAIL , YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU GO.
Taboo Resort is beautiful and relaxing place on the clean lake with lots of activities. great accommodations, clean and well-maintained facilities and play ground, etc. Elegantly renovated and spacious guest rooms and suites. Management and resort team member were all friendly and always trying to accommodate us and other guests. Beautiful sunsets and a lovely, relaxing place to spend with family or loved ones. We would return and highly recommended. Thank you, Lorie and crew, for welcome package! With kind regards and Skal: Frank and Sonia
