Eric:Thank you for your review which has highlighted a parking issue which I will address in an edit of our guest “Pre-Stay” email, sent to all our guests, two days before their check-in.We are disappointed to learn of the damage you sustained to your car and your generally unhappy review.You booked with *******. At the time of your booking , you were sent the Tarltons “Pre-Stay” email which was delivered via your ******* customer email address at 6:18 pm on 28 March. All of our guests receive this introductory email. The email provides our guests with a Google Map of our location. This map highlights where to look for our hi-visibility sign directing you up the hill to Tarltons Lodge. This sign is retroreflective, commands a prominent position on the shoulder of the road and is clearly visible. To describe our driveway as in terrible shape is not true. It is fully paved and undamaged. The transition from the steep incline of the driveway to the level surface of the access road above only presents a problem with low-slung vehicles like yours. We have had innumerable low-slung vehicles park at Tarltons Lodge without incident. I offer guests with these vehicles the option to park on the road rather than in our driveway, which I offered you and which you declined. ?We and our guests have driven the access road and parked in our driveway repeatedly for many years and neither we nor our guests have ever experienced any “massive” mishaps.?We have three parking spaces for the guests who occupy our three rooms – one parking space per room. ?To say access to your room was through a home is also misleading. Your access was through a private lobby from which a private staircase led to your room.?As our hundreds of Trip Advisor and other OTA reviews testify, guests who book our rooms are paying for the spa and ocean view and are content to pay a premium for a room with a private spa for their exclusive use with private access and an awesome ocean view. In your case, you were not interested in and did not use the spa. Perhaps the spa and the ocean view had no value for you. ?Your booking was on the Easter Holiday weekend, when, like at Christmas or on Waitangi Day, public demand raises the room price.Best Regards
