The community have appointed new managers to the Templehall Inn and on their first night we enjoyed a fabulous Christmas Dinner - quick service, piping hot delicious food, a lovely atmosphere and warm mice pies to finish. Best wishes to Justin & Mercyline.

Stopped by here for a drink with friends, tables outside not cleared of dirty glasses, tables not wiped, waited ages to be served drinks, bar staff too busy occupied on their mobiles in the the smaller bar to notice people waiting to be served in the larger bar. It’s small things like this that make the customer experience good or bad by paying attention to the finer details, such as having fresh flowers on the tables from the lovely garden. We looked at the menu, it was overly extensive with no mention of whether the produce is sourced locally, the area is renown for quality meat, fish, dairy & vegetables, you don’t need a long menu, people will come if you do a few things really well with good fresh quality produce. This community pub is a work in progress..

Like most people we were wanting to support this community venture but unfortunately we would not recommend. Arriving to find the town were celebrating and staff were in fancy dress. With no warm or inviting greeting, we were shown to the wrong room. This was resolved which at this point we asked the breakfast times (8-10am). We then asked would it be possible to have a slightly earlier breakfast at 7.30am, they said they would check! As no one returned we thought we would attend the celebrations to support local!! On arriving downstairs we asked the bar staff about our breakfast request, where she went to check! On returning she was joined by, who I can only presume to be the female manager shouting we can not do breakfast any earlier, I explained calmly my situation and she said why do I expect her to meet everyone's breakfast needs and asking for breakfast 30mins earlier was unreasonable!! The request tea and toast!! This altercation was witnessed by the busy bar, to which we left with no apology for the outburst. The noise from the celebrations and the loud banging as anyone left the building continued until 12am! If we could have we would have left and sort an alternative accommodation.

If I could give this place ten stars, I would. It’s not the fanciest place you’re going to stay at but you’ll struggle to find anywhere else that’s as friendly. The whole village of Morebattle is an absolute treasure. It’s a community pub that’s supported by the whole village so there’s plenty of locals in the bar and what fabulous people they were. It’s the most welcoming pub I’ve ever stayed at. It has a really vibrant and happy atmosphere. Staff and owners were so nice and they have big plans for the future. I wish them every success and hope they go from strength to strength. We will definitely be back.

First and foremost, this is a community run hotel. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and it was priced for the community and those who support the community. The selection of food and drinks were excellent. The room was very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. 5 star service from caring interested staff made this a memorable experience and one which we will do again.

We were keen to visit the refurbished pub after the recent community buyout and reopening. What a lovely, welcoming environment the community has created, in record time, it seems! We ate a beautifully cooked lunch of trout fillets and new potatoes, followed by birthday cake and ice cream. The pretty beer garden has stunning views over fields abd hills too.We'll definitely be back with friends and family!

A community pub, which opened in May 25. Our room was good with a lovely shower. Exactly what you need after a hard day walking. The bed was comfortable and the brew making kit was more than adequate. We had a good night's sleep. The steak and ale pie was delicious, served with old fashioned style chips. Golden brown and your fork just sinks into them. None of your skinny McDonald's rubbish. Breakfast was good. The landlord had taken our bags up to our room, lovely touch. They are still working on it and I am sure it will be even more wonderful. I wish the well.

Lovely pub and food was lovely Views to die for and fabulous warm welcome Breakfast was delicious We stopped over for a night and wished we had booked for longer will definitely be back again already looking at booking again in August thank you so much for a lovely stay
