Great location, quiet and serene. The rooms were clean and spacious and the facilities are amazing, felt like home. The pricing for rooms and activities were quiet reasonable considering the experience thus great value for money. Christy and team were great hosts accommodating our requests, very friendly to us and even actually spending time with the kids at some point to allow for couple time. Amazing place and hosts.

Apart from Christy, who seems to run everything and could not have been more helpful, our stay was a nightmare. Squirrels in the roof, our electric blanket catching fire, doors jamming shut, apparent lack of staff and very dirty donkeys who brought a multitude of flies.(We understand it is a farm but they need some form of grooming) Kitchens were equipped with the bare minimum, broken tables & benches. I think it would be lovely for a family with young children but certainly not for us.

Thabametsi is the perfect space for me - tranquil. The hills in the backdrop are the classical dense African bush while the farm that nestles against the hills is beautifully tended and has a serene and orderly atmosphere. The horses, ponies, donkeys, goats etc are all looked after very well and are happy and friendly. The cottage in which I stayed was beautifully clean and orderly, simply but furnished . Christy was wonderful and I had everything I needed. I recommend Thabametsi.

It was an awesome weekend. Friendly staff, clean and nice accommodation . I will definitely book there again. Will give them a 5 star. Loved the animals, the donkey car ride and tractor ride. It was so nice to take a stroll through the bush with the bicycles.

We had a lovely experience camping at Thabametsi. Loads of different animals roaming around keeping things entertaining. My cousin and our two collies LOVED swimming in the damn and cruising around in the boats. We also enjoyed a donkey-cart ride, tractor ride and greeting a newly born goat. Lovely warm showers and very friendly staff. They will definitely be seeing us again!

We both & our 3 dogs had a wonderful time. We did not want more and would definitely book again. Christy was so friendly.

I decided to book at Thabametsi after reading all the glowing reviews. Sadly my experience was not that great. The farm itself is absolutely beautiful and the walks I took with my dogs were enjoyable. BUT: There was a monstrosity solar project being erected right outside my lounge/kitchen and the workmen carried on until 8pm at night. There was no peace whatsoever, especially when the elderly gentleman on the farm (owner?) decided to sit and chat at the top of his voice to the workers for hours on end. I couldn't relax inside the bungalow and had to sit outside to read/relax. This was not ideal as the stoep has no privacy. My second gripe was that I had to figure out where the walks/hikes started. There was no info in the bungalow. Also, the main reason for booking at Thabametsi was that I saw on the reviews that there is canoeing and a dam. Ha! When I was there the dam was a shallow, sludgy pond, overgrown with reeds. I doubt a canoe could even fit in that dam. Very disappointing as my dogs love to swim. My next gripe was that the water that came out the taps in the bathroom was vile. Gosh, it was something else. It smelled like sewage. I understand that they probably used harvested rain water (great - I approve) but the water had sulphur or something in it which was truly very, very bad. My last gripe is that the bed I slept in was very uncomfortable and the pillows were flat (plat geslaap!). I am disappointed with my experience at Thabametsi - the place has so much potential but the little details are being sadly overlooked.

We are currently installing a solar system to address the frequent and long power outages caused by Eskom. While this project is intended to enhance our guests’ experience, we deeply regret any disturbance it caused during your stay. The elderly gentleman you mentioned was a fellow guest who was interested in the project and not part of our team, but we will ensure such situations are handled more sensitively in the future. Regarding the dam, the area you visited is actually a natural wetland home to a variety of birds and wildlife. The entrance to the dam is located a little further into the property, and we will work on providing clearer information in our bungalows to help guests locate all our facilities. We were unaware of your concerns about the water, bed, and pillows during your stay. We strive to address issues as they arise, and we truly wish you had felt comfortable bringing these to our attention. Your feedback is valuable, and we are already reviewing and addressing these points to improve our guest experience. What a peaceful and tranquil get away. The farm is well maintained and the people are very friendly and hospitable. Thank you Christy and Johannes. My family thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the donkey rides with Molly and Elvis. We hope to see you soon.

The drive leading to the gate & farm was superb. The tree formation was GR8. Christy's reception was warm and remained welcoming for the 5days. Johannes was very handy & kept us going for all the days. The farm has activities that we all loved and we never left for anything outside. This gave us time to bond especially over the bon fires and braais. We will surely return for more.

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a break from city life. The first impression was the cleanliness. All our needs were catered for and we enjoyed the fireplaces on that cold weekend. Jonathan and Christy were gracious hosts and made sure that we were ok without being intrusive. The children loved every minute of the stay and I, surprisingly, found that my highlights were the tractor ride and the picnic area which had canoes that were enjoyed. The 7 kilometer gravel road to the venue was concerning but we took it in our stride as this was a rural area.
