Our second stay in the loft room at the Apple Pie. We spent 2 night here at the weekend. It's a lovely cosy room with magnificent views and so convenient for a stroll into Ambleside shops. The room has no cooking facilities though it does have a small fridge. We did find it a bit restrictive staying in just one room, but that is not a fault of the property owners as we knew what it was going into this. It's just if say somebody wants to read and another wants to watch TV - you get the idea.... Considering the location and quality of the room though, it is very very reasonably priced and you get free parking too. There is also a 10% discount at the Apple Pie bakery and/or café to be had during your stay.

Nice clean rooms and bathroom. Staff friendly and accomodating. Great location for exploring the lakes etc. Public transport, boats etc all near at hand. Ambleside has lots on offer when staying. The bakery was wonderful to, it was lovely waking up to beautiful aromas in the morning, 10% off for guests was welcome but maybe 20 would be even better.

Disappointed as we parked our car in reserved space and someone hit it and damaged it. Staff advised they could not review footage as this would need to be done in real time and they didn’t have anyone to do it. What is the point of the camera? Unhelpful approach.

We’ve been visiting Ambleside for over 40 years and have stayed in a variety of accommodations. The Apple Pie is a bit of a food institution over there and when it added rooms and these lofts it seemed a good option. We stayed in one of the lofts. Our room benefitted from a superb view towards the mountains through the large window (room 34). Great place to enjoy your breakfast coffee or evening wine. Other perks - free parking just outside (that’s a big plus in Ambleside), 10% off in the cafe, real milk in the fridge and excellent gingerbread. The lofts have the best views but they are near the road. In high season , it might be noisy. There’s a bar nearby too although we didn’t have any issues. There’s no lift so if you have a lot of luggage, you’ll need to carry it up the stairs. Also, there was no wardrobe in our room. Plenty of wall hangers and drawers though. I’ve knocked a star off for a couple of things in the room. It could’ve been cleaner and the sink was extremely slow to empty. The paintwork could use a ‘touch up’ here and there too. Overall though, we had a great stay. The view and location really made it - along with the joy of free parking!

We had mixed feelings over this place. The room itself was beautiful clean and had a great view out over the town and hills beyond. Loved the tea/coffee tray with the delicious ginger cake. The location is fab in easy walking distance of lots of good restaurants and shops etc. There was an overflow car park too for guests so we didn't need to worry about getting parked in the tiny cramped car park at the front which other people were using to go to the bakery beneath us. We had breakfast in the cafe which was nice and good friendly staff too. The negative side is more about two things. Traffic and being on the first floor. We appreciate the owners can't control the traffic but if you are staying here it's noisy. We didn't realise how busy the main road actually is with lorries, buses etc and the rooms are literally right on the roadside so you get it at all hours of the night and first thing in the morning with delivery vans etc. The other point is that if you are staying here ask for a 2nd floor room because when you stay on the first all we could here was the people walking about above us and when they decide to get up at 5am you do too! The building is old and we know it creaks but very noisy floor boards above were just too annoying. So we would definitely come back to Ambleside but we would stay elsewhere.

After reading the reviews we were expecting something special, the location is excellent however the room was somewhat lacking. The online images are rather flattering to the actual accommodation, the room from a positive viewpoint was large with a super view, however the furnishings are rather tired, a thin duvet and pillows were flat. The sink had a crack in it, cleaning was somewhat lacking with a lot of dust under the bed and behind the television . The accommodation does feel like student digs. The accommodation is very well priced with a couple of lovely touches with the fresh milk and gingerbread. Breakfast at the Apple Pie was also exceptional. We will be returning to Ambleside but sadly not to the Apple Loft but certainly to the Apple Pie for breakfast.

Lovely place to stay right in the centre of Ambleside. The room we had was smaller than we thought we’d booked but was great for the weekend. Very comfy. Great shower. Tea, coffee, milk etc. The drying room was a bonus as it rained all weekend so having somewhere to dry smelly gear was a real bonus. Highly recommend Apple Loft.

What a great room at The Apple Pie! A warm and friendly greeting upon arrival and taken to the room and shown around. The mince pies on the tea tray were fabulous - I bought some from the shop below. The location is perfect with parking very close by was a bonus. Hope to return next year.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the apple loft. The apple loft is in a great central location with free parking which you could stay in until 12 on the day of departure. We paid an extra ￡10 for late checkout which meant we could stay in the room until 12 instead of the usual checkout time of 10am. When you stay at the apple loft you get a discount at the apple pie cafe/shop which was an added bonus which we were unaware of prior to our stay. I would highly recommend eating here as the food was delicious, we went everyday. The room was lovely with nice decor. There was a fridge in the room which had fresh milk in. There was also a kettle, tea, coffee and some nice gingerbread. We stayed in the king room on the first floor which had a lovely big window facing the mountain which was very relaxing as we watched the snow fall. There was also a standing fan in the room which we did not require. The beds were comfortable. The only slight downside about us staying on the first floor is that you could occasionally hear the people in the room above walking about, this is not enough to stop us returning but we would likely book a room on the 2nd floor. It was a lovely stay and we will definitely be returning to the apple loft hopefully later in the year.
