Terrible service and dishonest staff!
I booked a room with a private bathroom, but when I arrived, the staff kept insisting that my booking was for a shared bathroom. I clearly showed them my booking confirmation, but the receptionist still took my phone to show his manager. After checking, he told me, “No more private bathroom rooms tonight. Please stay one night in the shared one and come back tomorrow morning — the private room will be ready then.”
I came back at 8:25 AM as told. Another staff member said the new room wasn’t ready yet and offered to store our luggage. When I returned later that day, the same guy completely denied everything he said before! He claimed I only booked a shared bathroom room and could only change if I paid extra. He even said his manager agreed and that I was trying to get a better room for free.
I asked him to check the CCTV, but he kept making excuses and twisting the story. The advertisement I originally showed him on Trip was suspiciously removed afterward.
This place is dishonest and unprofessional. If they didn’t want to honor the booking, they should have said so on the first day — not lie and waste my time. I was on a business trip and had to move my luggage back and forth for nothing. Extremely bad attitude and zero respect for customers.

The rooms is nice. Good location for wandering to the city. Definitely worth it.

We were running late and were going to miss the advertised check-in time, so I called ahead to find out what to do. Although no-one answered the phone, we were informed by the automated answerphone that if you missed check-in, they would leave your keys to your room in a lock-box outside reception. This is a major plus for travellers as it can be so hard to execute your travel plans to schedule!
The facilities in The Lodge, where we were staying were mostly communal and hostel-like - people seemed to hang around in hallways. For some this could be a great way to socialise or otherwise intimidating. These communal areas were slightly untidy and unclean. We stayed in a room with en-suite facilities. It was very basic with two large twin beds pushed together to make a King-sized bed. The shower temperature fluctuated massively but we had a comfortable stay.
We did not eat on-site as we found it to be overpriced but we did notice that there was a wide range of social events such as a pub quiz which would have been super fun if we had more time!
