We highly recommend The Forge. What a Gem! We stayed here for 3 nights with friends who have been going through difficult times and we would like to say a big thank you to all the team and in particular to Sam who made us so welcome on the first night and Beth. Nothing was too much trouble.Every meal we had in the evening and for breakfast was amazing and cooked to perfection.Beth was a real tonic throughout our stay and we can’t thank her enough

We’ve just returned from our second four night stay at The Forge. We stayed here same time last year. Although we aren’t the type to religiously return to the same place every year we do love Whitby and the stunning coastline that surrounds the area and having found a superb place to stay last year we were keen to stay at The Forge once again. It didn’t disappoint. The room, room 4 on the top floor, was spotless and very tastefully decorated. The friendly staff cleaned and changed towels and bedding daily and they refilled essentials such as loo rolls etc, as needed. Food menu covered both our taste and the quality we can only describe as outstanding. Fish and chips and the steak and mushroom pie like we’ve never tasted before. The Forge is set just far enough outside the hullaballoo of Whitby traffic and commuter zones to be tranquil with the occasional bleets of sheep or shrill of the swifts as they gather on the telephone lines preparing to migrate back to Africa, yet its five minutes by car, bus, or park and ride from Whitby harbour. The friendly owners were great and offered tips of places to visit we hadn’t thought of to visit some of which really enhanced our stay. Like the Swifts that make the Forge their home for the summer, we too will be back.

Staying in Whitby for a week, decided to have a change from the restaurants in town and visit a country pub. Google search highlighted The Forge which is in a quiet country spot but easily accessible and only 3 miles from Whitby - barely a 10 minute drive for us. The pub itself is nicely done out with a good atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was extremely good both in terms of menu choice and quality - my husband had the chicken and leek pie which he really enjoyed, and I had salmon fillets with nut butter which was both original and delicious. Afterwards we fancied a special dessert of lemon tiramisu, and after consulting the staff opted for one between us - it was huge and plenty for 2 - also delicious. All in all the best pub meal we’ve had in a long time, and a great venue for holidaymakers in Whitby.

Warm welcome to this lovely village pub. Very generous sized comfortable bedroom. Good choice of menu and the food we had was excellent. Breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked to order and more than adequate. Great location for exploring the area.

A lovely, friendly pub. Great service, and a calm relaxing atmosphere. The food was really good, served with a smile. AND LET ME TELL YOU ALL, the boozy bread and butter pudding was to die for. So good we are going back in the next few days. If you're looking for a place to eat, with an old fashioned pub feel - this is the place.

We were able to check in early after a long drive. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent choice of breakfast. Fantastic food in the evening and great atmosphere. Bus stops right outside to go to Whitby or a ￡10 taxi ride. Highly recommended.

Easy to find plenty of parking, Excellent accommodation very comfortable rooms and very clean,Great location 10 minute drive yo whitby food is excellent as is all the staff would highly recommend and can't wait to visit and stay again would highly recommend.

We visited for Sunday lunch, very friendly and good atmosphere. The food and service was all very good. Very handy for where we were staying. Extremely generous portions of food for adults and children.

Fantastic room with beautiful views, a great breakfast and a lovely landlady (and family) Recommended.. beautiful area too, which is what brought us here in the 1st place.. Will be back when the pennies allow..
