Looks like the pub has been refurbished since I was last here around 2 years ago, very clean and tidy. Stopped in for a business lunch with a colleague. Food was hot and well presented, I just had a diet coke which was as expected. My colleague had a pint of Ringwood, he said it was spot on. Toilets were immaculate - always a good way to judge a pubs standards. Despite the -2 temperatures outside the place was warm. Great visit. My only criticism was they seemed quite short staffed. Our server was fab though and ran around looking after people the best he could. Would return when in the area.

We stayed just one night on a Friday and found plenty of parking on site. The greeting and check in was friendly and courteous and we were shown up to our room - a rarity these days! Room 10 on the first floor was a good size with a comfortable bed and a roomy bathroom with a good shower and shower gel and shampoo provided. There was a decent amount of clothes storage, a large TV, and the tea and coffee facilities included a coffee capsule machine. Cleanliness was excellent and although the bar downstairs was very busy, we didn't hear any of the noise in the room - sound proofing was great. The only noise was from a large ventilator outside the window which we think was something to do with the kitchen. It gave off an audible low hum for most of the night, but it didn't disturb us; it may have been a different story in the summer if you had the window open. Breakfast was decent and offered both a range of cooked options (meat and vegetarian alternatives), plus a small and perfectly acceptable range of cereal, toast, yoghurt etc. We'd stay again if we were in the area. There are several restaurants just across the road, including two excellent Italian ones, although the food being served from the bar in the evening looked good.

Always enjoy the kids breakfast at the Goddard along with a very good large Americano. I noticed today my bill was ￡9.75 which was ￡2 more than the previous week. Was I correctly charged, if so why the very step increase!

We stayed here very recently for two nights, on a trip to the area. The Goddard Arms was recommended to us, after my daughter and her partner had stayed there a little while back. Our room was really lovely, very clean, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable too. The breakfast here is exceptional, one of the best we have had in a long while. The staff were so helpful, and very friendly, would highly recommended the Goddard Arms, if anyone is looking to stay in the area ??

We paid ￡220.50 for a double room, room it was very small not enough storage, and only 1 teabag for two people on tea service tray and one intact cup other one had broken handle. Bathroom wasnt very clean and shower was quite dangerous as in it only had one setting and that was scalding hot, so neither of us had a shower in the morning, we did tell staff about it and response was shocking in that they already knew about the issue so obviously nothing was being done about it, pity the next people being given room 12. In the morning we couldn't exit from the third floor and had to break emergency opening for door as no reply when we phoned the number given on the door. Breakfast was good and staff were nice hence the 3 stars given as no complaints there. Overall won't be returning.

I had an excellent experience. The venue is well-furnished, and the service was outstanding. Its central location in Swindon made it convenient for my needs. A special thank you to Jack, Hannah, Darren, and Ben for their helpful and professional assistance. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. When we arrived the pub was very busy. Thankfully the noise of the bar wasn't so bad once you got upstairs. Unfortunately the noise from the main road was worse, and went on all night. Ask for a room away from main road! The room itself was fine, good shower. Breakfast was a shambles. We asked for a hearty breakfast ( small) and a glass of iced water, as there was no water with the buffet. My husband had to go get the water, as the waitress "completely forgot" I had a croissant which I only took one bite out of as it was dry and stale. When our breakfast came out, we were handed large breakfast, we pointed this out to the waitress, she said she " must have made a mistake putting the order through" it wasn't at all busy, but the fact she was chatting to staff probably preoccupied her. The breakfast took at least twenty minutes to come out. It was greasy, and had several rashers of streaky bacon, instead of the one rasher of decent bacon I was expecting. There was a lot of waste, which I hate, the very reason I only ordered a small breakfast.

The hotel and bar staff was amazing, really made us feel very welcome, food was lovely, beds nice and comfortable. A great hotel for using the town, I would suggest this hotel for any occasion, they also have big tvs with sports, great range of drinks.
