One of the best hotels I’ve been to in the UK - couldn’t recommend it more. Food is Michelin quality. Beers are exceptional. Rooms are beautiful. Beds are perfect. Owners and staff are lovely. One of the UK’s best places to stay!

What a wonderful find! Great family get together for one night at The Holcombe. A brilliant menu including homegrown vegetables and fruit beautifully prepared and presented. We were all (including Alfie our border terrier) so well looked after. We will return!

The Holcombe was a last minute booking to meet up with family before Christmas. The food was exceptional, both at dinner and breakfast and we enjoyed a beautiful walk from the hotel to Downside Abbey in the morning.

What a wonderful time we had at The Holcombe last week. The food was delicious, our room so comfortable and beautifully decorated with a brilliant view of the surrounding countryside. Thank you Alan and Caroline for looking after us so well. I feel sure we will return.

This is really mid-size between a pub with rooms and a small hotel and as such has the advantages of each. It is very welcoming with a warm homely room and bath. A comfortable place in the cold November. It is set alone with plenty of parking and is quiet. Everything is efficient and breakfast are some of the best and well presented that I have experienced being served in a friendly manner with produce from their own garden. We did not have dinner there as we were at a function locally but the ambiance of the dining room is good and if the food is up to breakfast standards it will be 1st class. This is a suitable place for few days in the Somerset country or a stop-over on the way to Devon/Cornwall. We shall return.

We have just returned home following a 2 night stay at the Holcombe Inn. What a find! Alan and Caroline, the delightful hosts, have created something really special in a lovely part of Somerset, close to Bath, Bristol, Wells, Glastonbury etc. Our bedroom, overlooking the Mendips and Downside Abbey, was very comfortable and there was a nice selection of beverages plus some delicious homemade cookies provided daily. There was a free-standing bath in the bedroom but we prefered to use the big walk- in shower. The toiletries were luxurious. However, the highlight of our stay was, without doubt the food. We dined in on both nights and each dish was superb - interesting, flavoursome and beautifully presented. Alan is a very accomplished and passionate chef for whom seasonality is essential. Much of the produce is grown in the hotel’s pretty kitchen garden. Fish is cured, bread is baked and preserves are all made in-house. The wine list is quite short but the selection is excellent. Above all, the prices are remarkably reasonable for such quality food. The Michelin people really should visit!

This was our third stay at The Holcombe and once again we had a wonderful stay. The food is exceptional, every mouthful a joy and everything home grown and so fresh. It's such a peaceful location and the rooms are extremely comfortable so I would highly recommend a stay here.

Found this gem of a place after spending quite some time searching through to find a reasonably priced accommodation for one night in Bath and close to Bath Spa University at Newton St Loe. We stayed in The Roost which was situated in the Vegetable Garden area. It was a cosy cabin house with comfy double bed, spacious room, cute dressing area and amazing views. Breakfast was included and it was delicious, well presented and we even met the chef, Alan who was very friendly and chatted briefly with us. Amazing place, definitely keep this one in mind for future stays.

A party of four stayed for two nights 15 - 16th of August 2025. The food was of the highest quality, and the ambiance was truly delightful. The chef was a dynamo, personally taking the time to advise us of the day’s fresh catch and giving us the opportunity to secure it ahead of our meal. If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience, this is the place to stop. Whether you are dining locally or just visiting the area, you will not be disappointed.

Well what a find! Great location, fantastic surroundings and hospitable, friendly team that cannot do enough for you. We stayed in The Rooster, a cabin with all the amenities, overlooking the private garden and raised beds growing their own produce. We had a great evening with great food, wine and company and did not for one minute feel rushed by the team looking after us. Breakfast in the morning was calm and timely offering again their own produce, homemade granola, jams, breads etc - absolutely fantastic. Thank you to Caroline and Alan who are great hosts that cannot do enough for you , so thank you, we will definitely be back!
