We stayed at this cosy hotel for my husbands birthday ?? We spent the day walking the troutbeck medley ???????? and then retreated to the cosy open fire. The mortal man inn is the perfect place for good food, cosy vibes, and serene scenery, Sam was a great host, and all staff are friendly and welcoming, this hotel/pub is dog friendly for you and your furry friends The food was top-notch and a good variety of beverages are available, We will be back !!

Incredible Pub and Inn 5* The room we had in this hotel was absolutely superb overlooked the valley and included a beautifully decked out room with a four poster bed and vintage fixtures and fittings, plenty of space and the room was immaculate not forgetting the spa bath. Now onto the pub/restaraunt. Although on the pricier side the food was worth every penny. We had starters and mains and were both astounded at the quality and portion sizes of the food. All produce is locally sourced too. Very busy so make sure to book in advance or you may miss out. Staff very attentive and friendly. A special shoutout to Sam behind the bar, the bar was full and he was the only person working he’s a real credit to the pub and made sure we had an unforgettable experience whilst being rushed off his feet. This Pub/Inn is a must visit if you are in the Windermere area. 5*

We had the most wonderful experience staying here. The food was delicious, the staff were lovely, and the room was absolutely perfect. They went above and beyond for the surprise for my boyfriend, the room was so beautifully decorated and thought-out. Abraham and AJ helped to check us in and they were so hospitable and kind, and Steve was wonderfully enthusiastic and generous with his wine knowledge and expertise. All of the staff were amazing and we had such a lovely stay. I’m sure we’ll be back!! Thank you.

This was our third stay at the Mortal Man over a period of a couple of years with other visits to eat on other occasions when staying in the area. We have always loved this hotel for the location and the food. This time we felt that some of the quality had gone, the Mortal Man burger, a favourite of both myself and my husband was tasteless, if you had been blindfolded you wouldn't have even known there was bacon or cheese in it. I am unsure if the chef, suppliers or both have changed but it was not the same quality. The hotel had also decided to start to charge for the continental breakfast (a topic which is on previous lower graded reviews) . We aren't big breakfast people so having this included in the room rate previously suited us fine, however if we had paid (￡10 per head per night) I would have expected far better produce and more selection. I really hope that the hotel continues to do well, for us on our next trip we will try the hotel down the road for a change.

Visited the Mortal Man nearly everyday while staying nearby, to eat or just to sit and relax in the well kept beer garden with its beautiful views. The pub is cosy and sells a good selection of ales, Windermere IPA being my partners favourite. The staff are really friendly with a good sense of humour and put you at your ease as soon as you walk in. The food is wonderful, good sized portions, well priced and cooked to perfection from the crispy batter on the fish to the lovely homemade Yorkshire pudding on the Sunday lunch. Can’t wait to visit again

I had a big swim race event at Windermere and the team pulled out all of the stops right down to leaving a chalkboard in my roim wishing me well for the event. This hotel is really magical with a wonderful family-run vibe. Nothing was too much trouble for Chloe and Callum during my stay. The location is magnifucent too. I would give this an 11 out if 10 experience. Thank you to the Chapman family for this superb hospitality expetience. Roy Barry

Visited with Friends, bartender went on about local lakes ales they sell. We discussed that Wainwright is not brewed in lakes, their own Mortal Man amber is a Marstons beer + Loweswater maybe in the lakes but the Gold beer is not brewed in lakes. We ordered two types of beer both were off at end of barrel. Left with choice of Marstons or Wainwright !!! Had one pint + left after our 5 mile walk from Ambleside. We were looking forward to a session + lunch.

Me and my friend had dinner with The mortal man. The lamb mint burger was amazing! Nice quality of meat with mint was so refreshing! And the chips also crispy and soft inside. Love it! 10 out of 10!

Outside/the beer garden is good but inside is a bit gloomy and dark the service is decent the staff are kind but you can get a nice meal but the prices are just a bit to much but good place

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Took us in on a fully booked Sunday, with a smile. If they can, they will! Well kept ale and fantastic food. We had Sunday lunch and every bite was a cut above the rest - wished it wouldn’t end :) Would highly recommend you put it on your list to visit - but would highly recommend you book a table, so not to disappoint!
