This was my second stay at The Penn while visiting family nearby. The location is very convenient for all the amenities in Windermere. Both rooms I have stayed in were very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated with lovely shower rooms. They had a small fridge, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. I felt very safe as a solo traveller and it was a relaxing place to come back to after a busy day. I will be returning.

Positives are very close to train station, on site parking, cleanliness, nice bed, sheets and towels. Negatives include inability to stand up straight in most of our room due to sloping ceiling (the room on the top floor), extremely difficult to get suitcases up the narrow tiny stairs, and several of us banged our heads on the low ceilings in the stairs. So if tall, have lots of luggage, or any mobility issues, would not recommend unless ahead of time they can guarantee a main floor room.

Beautiful hotel with lots of special touches that give it a boutique vibe . Nothing was too much trouble and there was a prompt response . We were going to a wedding and my husbands shirt was creased but they not only brought us an iron and ironing board on enquiry but the cleaner carried it up to the top of the house up all the stairs . Bless them ?? great experience and will definitely be back again soon .

Lovely self check In hotel in great location in Windermere with shops, pubs & restaurants very close by. Room was fabulous with very comfy bed, great shower, tea/cofee facilities and parking Fab little touches which made it extra special. Any issues resolved by quick email or phone call as no staff on site. We would definitely stay again when in Lake District.. Thankyou!!??

The perfect getaway! I've just returned from a solo trip to the Lakes, and I couldn't have asked for better accommodation. The Penn - a gorgeous, quaint yet stylish cottage which truly felt like home from home. The deluxe penn was stunning bursting with charm and so much attention to detail - locally sourced sustainable shower and bath products, a generous helping of beverages, not forgetting the dreamy roll top freestanding bath. Juliette was extremely helpful throughout my stay, and the check in was seamless. Perfect location - a stone's throw away from Windermere station, nice cafes and artisan shops, and on the door step of Orrest Head. Would recommend to anyone visiting Windermere. Thanks for a wonderful couple of days!

The Penn was a gorgeous stylish yet homely stay in the perfect location in Windermere. All of the rooms were gorgeous. Ours had a free standing bath and a very comfy bed. They thought about all of the extra details - nice shower products, water in the fridge, coffee and tea. The team were so helpful and the check in experience was so easy. Would recommend the location - close to lots of walks/activities and walking distance to nice pubs/bars/cafes. Would recommend to anyone going to the area. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Really outstanding service and set up. Very helpful online in advance (great speed of response) and knowledgeable about contacts locally. Very easy access system (much simpler than a traditional check in). I couldn’t recommend the place higher.

I had been in conversation for weeks prior to my visit as I had planned to Propose to my girlfriend. The plan was to pop the question on our second day but unfortunately we checked in only to find the champagne and a congratulations note left on the side. As you can imagine this was very confusing to my girlfriend who had no idea. I then had to rush the whole thing and ask her in a small room after spending alot of time Planning the perfect proposal after a hike and had found someone to meet us to film and take pictures. The room was tiny and the bed was uncomfortable. Won’t be staying here again and I advise anyone coming for a romantic getaway not to either!

I don’t know where to begin, everything was just brilliant. We had the loveliest dog friendly stay at The Penn to bring in the New Year and we couldn’t have loved it more. What a fantastic wee place this is, the owners have taken great attention to detail with some lovely goodies on arrival for both us and the pup. A dog bed and water bowl was even provided for furry friends. The room was extremely clean, comfortable and cosy with ample space for spending some much needed down time in The Lake District. Location was fab, walking distance to all amenities in Windermere and Bowness and a short bus/car ride to the further towns. We never struggled to get parked, there is a set number of spaces for The Penn guests to use which is brilliant in a place where parking can be busy. A coffee machine, kettle and fridge were great features meaning we could enjoy a cuppa and some cold drinks throughout our stay and the smart TV allowed us to enjoy some movies while relaxing at the end of a busy day. Staff extremely helpful with questions before arrival and responded to us swiftly when needed - it’s so lovely to know that they take pleasure in their little business. We honestly could not recommend The Penn highly enough, it felt as thought we were staying in a wee apartment and not just a room with en-suite bathroom. It definitely had ample room for 2 people and a pup. If you are considering staying here, I would say go for it. It is simply amazing. We will be returning. Thank you so much.

What a gem, situated perfectly just down the road from the towns main restaurants and bars. There is also some lovely walks in the area, i recommend Orrest Head for the views. Beautiful hotel and Juliette from the Penn was extremely helpful. We will be back soon !
