Guest：the room was exceptional, clean and well presented, everything in the room we needed, all staff were excellent, welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
Guest：We had visited this hotel in June, and chose to return for Christmas. I can’t imagine a better place to spend Christmas Day. A gale was howling outside. Inside, there were bright woodburning stoves and candles and delicious food and the warm hearted and friendly staff who were always willing to help. As always, the bed was gorgeous – comfortable, with high-quality scrupulously clean bedlinen. It’s a good size too. All the public rooms are beautiful – the resident decorator at the pig hotels has done a wonderful job of creating something superbly English and textured. We were travelling with our dog, and initially we thought the rules – which we had to actually sign – for dogs were fairly daunting. It even said that if your dog barked you would be charged the full price paid by those who had been disturbed. However, the staff proved really helpful and accommodating. Our dog was allowed to join us in the wonderfully cozy snug, and it was fine to take all our meals there. On Christmas Day, she was allowed to join us in the dining room. Initially, it was assumed that we would leave her in our bedroom, and a cage was provided for that, but our dog is not crate trained. When I explained this, the staff helpfully removed the cage. conversely, it would be very easy to avoid dogs if you wanted to as most of the hotel and also the vegetable garden do not allow them. The food was perfect – I’ve seen reviews here companion that it is tasteless, but I think this probably just reflects the use of local produce. Wonderful fresh vegetables, delicious meat, and a very friendly and knowledgeable sommelier made for an excellent experience for all three days of our stay. We have already booked our return visit in the summer. It’s a perfect place.
Guest：Beautiful Tudor house hotel, extremely friendly staff. We were booked into a comfy luxe room, we would’ve liked to have known before hand that there was no separate bathroom! Bath, shower and sink are all open plan, toilet separated by a stable door. Almost zero privacy, as someone who has a strict locked door rule when using the bathroom I did find the bedroom layout a struggle!! Not ideal if you’ve just starting out in a relationship either. The housekeeping was great and everything was of high quality. Didn’t eat much in the hotel as the food wasn’t to my partners liking but we knew this beforehand. There’s some beach cafes nearby but that’s about it, again we knew this.
Guest：This Pig did not disappoint. The approach and front entrance were disappointing and for all the world it looked as if the hotel was closed. The front door area is barren. However once inside it was marvelous and the staff were all happy and terrific. Our Shepherds Hut was divine! An easy walk to the beach and cafe's provided activities without requiring the car.
Guest：The eating areas at The Pig are lovely, laid back and vintage but the rest of our experience on this visit left us feeling disappointed. We booked a table for dinner for my birthday and we’re very much looking forward to our meal, however, we waited 30 minutes for our drinks order to be taken which wasn’t a great start. Then it took another 40 minutes for our wine to arrive (after chasing several times) after we had eaten our starters, no real apology just a brief shrug of the shoulders and a grumbled ‘sorry’. Main courses arrived and they were all very good. Dessert was another let down, the sponge in the sherry triffle was so dry, it really wasn’t good. For the prices you pay here, I would expect a lot better (in the past it has been). Wish we went somewhere else for my birthday meal.
