I was searching for dog friendly accommodation for a quick night away. The deciding factor in choosing the Rhu Inn was the menu - not just the routine pub grub menu. So I booked the room. From our arrival, to seeing our room, for going for dinner and then having drinks in the bar, we have been incredibly impressed. Anum, the manager met us on arrival - extremely warm and friendly welcome, showing us to our room and offering us coffee. Everyone we met was so friendly and so good in their hospitality role. The decor throughout the Inn, bar and bistro area is lovely- a really pleasant place to relax, have a drink and relax. And the food is just amazing - the flavours, and presentation and quality far exceeded my expectations! I ate more than i usually do and enjoyed every mouthful!???????? Highly recommend a visit - to stay and eat! I would most definitely return! ?????????????????????? LOTS of stars! Thank you all!
The food in Rhu Inn is absolutely fantastic. 2 New Chef's and what quality food they are serving. Fabulous choice on the menu and serving Lunch and Dinner now.
We decided to have dinner at The Rhu Inn and it was great. We found the atmosphere welcoming and relaxed, and the food choice was well balanced and lived up to expectations. We had courgette bhaji and two fish and chips, and both did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and beautifully crisp. What really stood out was the homemade tartar sauce — made by Anam’ s partner, who is the chef. For dessert, we had the granny apple pie which was just the right portion size and full of flavour. The food was fantastic but what made the dinner memorable was the warmth of the staff who were friendly and attentive . Overall a good night was had and somewhere we’d happily return to and recommend to others
We stayed a few nights here on our tour around Scotland. Our room was on the side of the bar directly above the side entrance. The room was small but comfortable. The food here was very good and breakfast next morning was cooked to order and really really good. Overall a great stay with a lot of positives, so I would recommend. As regards the room, because it was above the side entrance, occasionally you could hear people below , probably having a smoke, but they would be chatting late into the evening. As we were traveling a lot each day and hiking we would often be very tired so at 10pm trying to sleep the chatting below would be a little annoying. Perhaps a sign asking people to be aware after a certain time would be a good idea.
Excellent meal in a friendly little pub in this quiet Scottish village. Staff were very friendly and polite and the food was very nicely cooked. I've eaten there a couple of times before, and it has never disappointed.
Fabulous food, really fresh and high quality ingredients but still comforting and wholesome and in a nice friendly country pub setting, will definitely be back.
Came with my family for dinner, food is absolutely outstanding! Going back for dinner this week again. Staff so lovely and friendly! Would absolutely recommend going here even if it’s just for drinks!
On a business trip and booked this for a stopover after a good recommendation and was not disappointed. Very friendly staff who took time to show me the spacious room and an invite down for a drink at the bar. The menu is varied and the slow cooked beef pie was excellent. The bar prices are reasonable and service is very friendly and efficient. The bed was extremely comfortable and a modern shower was just the job in the morning ahead of a superb full Scottish breakfast served again by a very friendly staff member who was kind enough to keep me stocked up with free coffee as I took advantage of the WiFi to spend an hour or so in the bar catching up on emails. Excellent stay over and well recommended. Will return when next in the area.
The most friendliest pub I’ve ever been in, as soon as we entered, patrons said hello and pointed us in the direction of where there were empty seats. Staff were lovely, helped ourselves to some crisps with our drinks. Asked about a football game and the staff put it on for my partner to watch. We had food there, I had fish n chips which was beautiful served on a bed of mushy peas. My partner had the crispy chicken burger, it was delicious. I would highly recommend this pub, such lovely lovely people, excellent service and excellent food!

Thank you so much for this lovely review. The whole team work very hard to provide our guests with real Scottish hospitality and it will be a pleasure to welcome you back anytime! Thanks again.
As local residents, we had high hopes when The Rhu Inn reopened. Previously, after the reopening we enjoyed great service, fantastic food, and a welcoming atmosphere. However, our visit today for an early dinner fell far short of those expectations. We encountered several issues during our meal. The staff (none of whom I’ve seen before) seemed very inexperienced and unorganised and made numerous errors, both with our order and that of the table next to us. We were served incorrect drinks and started with dirty cutlery, which was off-putting right from the beginning. The calamari, while cooked well, was served in a minimal portion—only five small pieces—and lacked any flavor, making it a rather sad starter. For our mains, we both ordered burgers. I opted to swap my fries for the salt and chilli cheese fries, but what I received was disappointing—a bowl of frozen chips topped with melted cheddar and some chili flakes, which felt far from the quality we had come to expect. The burgers themselves were average at best, and I’ve had better meals at Wetherspoons, which is not a comparison I ever thought I would make. When it came time to settle the bill, I was shocked to find it totalled £60 for 1 very small, unsatisfying starter, two subpar burgers with frozen chips, and three drinks—one of which was incorrect and another taken away before I had finished. Additionally, I was charged the full price for the cheese fries and burger, despite having swapped out the fries which I was happy to pay a supplement for but £5.60 on top of the full price for the burger which included fries anyway is ridiculous! At that point, I didn’t feel inclined to dispute it, so we paid and left, but I must say, we will not be returning. The couple at the table next to us expressed the same sentiment. It’s truly a shame to see how drastically the quality has declined, as we had high hopes for The Rhu Inn. There are far better pubs and restaurants in the local area which I’d suggest trying before trying the Rhu Inn.
