Accommodation information is misleading, pictures are not reflective. The Wolsey is accessed through a back entrance off a small car park. The only ground floor window is the entrance door which faces the car forecourt, no openings. There is no ventilation in this property. The Wolsey has no access to the rest of the period building. The room rate is very high given the low standard of bed/mattress, towels and cleanliness. The beds are small and the mattresses are extremely basic and uncomfortable. There is a significant drain odor that permeates the entire accommodation. Car parking space is not guaranteed, the general public use the car park. This is likened to student accommodation, minimum quality for maximum profit. Tip - Bring your own towels and pillows or book hotel Indigo across the road for a true hotel experience for the same price point.

2 night stay for 3 adults and one child. It wasn’t clear from any website if the beds could be changed to twin until I read a review. I did try to ring but no answer but did get a reply to my email to confirm they could. We stayed in the Villiers which was on the ground floor. Everywhere was clean and had everything we needed even tin foil! Appreciated the milk and juice left in the fridge and of course the shortbread. They even supplied a tea towel, dish cloth and dishwasher tablets. If we had known we wouldn’t have brought ours from home. Clear instructions on how to get in as codes were sent via email. We found it simple to do even my non tech savvy mum managed- just have both hand free to open the door. Free parking a big plus. Overall spot on for comfort and location highly recommend. If we could add one thing somewhere to hang wet coats would be useful. Loved the high ceilings and original decor .. makes you almost feel like you are living in a period drama!”

Cant recommend this place enough. We stayed in the Everton apartment which was excellent. At the back in the ground floor. Inside was very modern fitted out and immaculate. We had everything we needed. Andy n his mate were so accommodating, his mate even gave us a lift to station when leaving. You do a great job guys…..we’ll be back!

What a fantastic location for exploring Durham. We stayed in the Egerton apartment which was exactly as shown on the photos, it did not disappoint at all. We were given all the information necessary by email - all easy to follow with no problems. The apartment itself was immaculate and had a touch of luxury. We would stay here again without hesitation.

This was an absolutely perfect stay with family for the Durham Miners Gala. The apartments are beautiful, very well equipped, clean and comfortable. We saw the staff at the beginning and end of the stay and they couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The location is faultless! We had small children in the party so had worried that the crowds may be too much but they had a perfect view of the parade from the apartment windows and then the family was able to walk down to the field when the bands had all gone through. On a normal day, the apartments offer beautiful views of the city. There is a very short walk to the city centre shops, the riverside, the castle and pubs, restaurants and bars. However, even on Gala weekend, we found it very peaceful in the evening
