What lovely people and good food. I have popped in twice now and keep meaning to make the effort to go back. I was using next door to the for tattoo-removal (very friendly guy who does the removals incidentally) ! I thought why not pop in The Tramway. I didn't feel odd on my own and infact felt safe and looked after. You can cut through behind and wonder back into town along the seafront. Fully recommended.

Excellent meal. We all had food, main course and dessert, that was clearly home made and served hot. It made a real treat. The menu offered a good choice. The staff made sure we were very satisfied with our food and we were. Would definitely come back when next in the area.

Highly recommended for Sunday roast! All homemade, the Yorkshire puddings are huge and all the food was delicious! Try the Biscoffi cheesecake, it's too die for! Staff very friendly and welcoming! We will definitely be back! 5 stars ?? ????????

Excellent place to stay not too far from the sea front.. Room was clean and tidy, we stopped four nights and room was cleaned and fresh towels every day.. Breakfast not included in price but pub is open for breakfast from 8am to 11am. We had breakfast each day and has a varied menu all freshly cooked and you get chance to chat to the friendly locals who use this service..

My husband and I had the full English breakfast which was extremely tasty. The host was friendly and very accommodating. We visit family in the area often and will definitely be back and look forward to sampling their full menu when up and running.

Well, having avoided this place for a long long time, well over two years it turns out, since before 'Mark G' left, I returned to this place for breakfast this morning at 0945-ish Service fast and efficient and the breakfast was, despite the extras requested, very reasonably priced. Quite possibly the best value for money breakfast locally around. They do a standard breakfast for ￡8.95, currently, but with my additional black pudding, fried slice and toast (rather than the either/or option), and large cappuccino still less than ￡14, which again is still value for money, considering other local options. Quite impressed if I'm honest and I'll definitely be returning for more.

The Trowel and Hammer no longer do evening meals, but seem to have an arrangement with The Tramway Hotel, so we went there. We were a bit hesitant because as MarkG, this was a very expensive restaurant. We needn't have worried, as there is an extensive, good value menu. We had the most expensive item on the menu, the mixed grill, which was still good value at ￡23.IT WAS MASSIVE! There was steak, chicken, chips, gammon... The works. All washed down with a lovely pint of Lees bitter. The food was well cooked and service was prompt and friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

Nice hotel, carpet to the rooms filthy, and I was worried after seeing this about the cleanliness of the rooms! When we opened the door to the room we were very pleasantly surprised. Lovely spacious clean room. Breakfast not included but was absolutely delicious.
