Wonderful experience here. Place was cosy, quiet and homely. Asha was ever helpful with the food and Savinay was always available on call. Overall a great experience.

Lovely, charming and cozy home stay. Clean room with AC and wonderful back water view. Very quiet area. Relatively cheap. Good local breakfast.

We had a wonderful stay at Vala House. Set in a lovely location right overlooking the backwaters and in easy reach of two beaches, Vala House is the best of both worlds. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff are really kind and attentive. I would recommend this lovely homestay for anyone wanting to enjoy the peace, calm and beauty of Cherai.

11/10 for hospitality Each room has its own mosquito protected area to sit outside with a view of the lagoon. They have a canoe for exploring the lagoon and an arrangement with a cafe nearby for swimming in the sea and using their shower and changing room. We used the complimentary bikes available both days of our stay to explore the area. One evening we had dinner freshly caught by the owners own Chinese fishing net. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Our 6 night stay in Vala house , was a perfect destination ,very relaxing and our room was very comfortable , the staff were very attentive under the leadership of Lalu and Abby. Breakfast was plentiful and varied . We hope to be back next year. Paul and Betty Hayhoe.

It's a beautiful place with an amazing view. Very quiet. Cherai beach is 5 mins walk from the property. Breakfast is on the house however other meals one can order and will be served by the in-house help. We did not go for the boat ride since we stayed only for a night, however just sitting and watching the fishermen going by was just perfect. The moon cast a beautiful show during the night, an amazing view from the house, which over two private sit outs.

It was serendipity that took us to Vala House. My friends & I took a trip to Cherai on an impulse on a Saturday. Being summer vacation time, most of the resorts were filled up. We walked a bit and chanced into Vala House. Expecting the same response, we gingerly asked for a room. To our pleasant surprise there was one. But it was available only for Saturday night. We grabbed it and lo & behold, it was so beautiful. The spacious, clean room, the tree-lined courtyard, the verandah opening out to the calm backwater, the beautiful (yes, beautiful & neat) bathroom and the courteous staff were total value-adds!! Our plan was to loll around on the beach, but looking at the room we were tempted to just chill here. The host, Abhilash, the kitchen staff were all courteous and amenable. The breakfast was the "puttu" on top of the gravy....pun intended. We opted for a traditional breakfast and it was melt-in-the -mouth Puttu, Egg curry and fruits on the side. Just YUMM!! I would recommend this place any time.
