Amanwella – Sri Lanka It is genuinely painful to write this, but Amanwella no longer reflects the level one expects from Aman. The pricing is very high, yet the overall experience does not match it. There is visible deferred maintenance throughout the property, and the resort feels tired rather than refined. This is especially disappointing because Aman is normally synonymous with perfection, serenity, and impeccable detail. What stood out immediately was the extremely low occupancy. In January — peak season — the hotel appeared to be less than a quarter full. That alone says a lot about the current mismatch between price and value. That said, there is one truly exceptional element: the staff. They are without question the kindest, warmest, and most genuinely caring people I have ever encountered — even compared to Thailand, which says a lot. Their kindness and dedication are extraordinary, and they deserve real praise. However, the level of spoken English, including at reception, needs significant improvement to match the price point and brand positioning of Aman. For a resort at this level, communication should be effortless and precise. In its current state, Amanwella either needs a full renovation or a very different pricing strategy. At roughly half the current rates, expectations would align far better. The location and potential are absolutely there — but the execution no longer lives up to the Aman name.

Visited Amanwella with my clients and had a wonderful experience. Amanwella is a truly peaceful luxury retreat. Stunning beach views, beautiful design, and very attentive staff. Perfect place to relax and enjoy nature in total privacy.

Провели 5 дней на вилле, расположенной на первой линии у побережья. Прекрасный шум прибоя сопровождал нас и днем и ночью. Персонал отеля очень внимателен и отзывчив. Отличное качество private dining. Территория утопает в зелени. Великолепный и огромный бассейн, в котором можно отлично поплавать. Однако, очень напрягает тесное соседство шумной деревни и общий с ее жителями пляж, территория которого загажена грязными самодельными постройками, собачьими стаями и бродячими торговцами. Мне кажется, что владельцы отеля должны подумать о том, что гостям такой супер премиальной сети такое соседство может не понравиться.

I recently visited Amanwella with my parents, I honestly don't think words are enough to explain the incredible experience I had. From the moment I stepped into Amanwella, I knew this was going to be a special experience. The hotel itself is a masterpiece, the architecture is stunning, minimalistic yet luxurious. The ambience is serene and calming, making it the perfect escape if you’re looking to unwind and relax. Food The food was absolutely top-notch. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. Pro tip: Always go for the seafood options, you won’t regret it. The flavors were rich yet delicate, and every meal was superb! Beach The beach near the resort lives up to its name "Silent Beach". It’s discreet, clean, and breathtakingly beautiful. I've been to most of the beaches in the southern coast of Sri Lanka and this beach is my absolute favorite. It's the most beautiful beach I've seen with clear turquoise waters. The best part? It isn’t crowded like many other beaches. Instead, it offers a sense of privacy and tranquility that makes it the perfect place to simply relax, breathe, and let time slow down. Service If there’s one thing that truly sets Amanwella apart, it’s the service. A hotel can be beautiful, but without good service it loses its charm. Amanwella not only delivers, but exceeds expectations. The service was personalized, thoughtful, and attentive down to the smallest details. I had initially planned to arrive at the hotel by 14:00H and informed the team in advance. Since I was traveling in my own vehicle, we made a few stops along the way and ended up running a little late. What really touched me was that, before I even arrived, I received a call from Tania at the front desk asking about my arrival time. It honestly felt like they were genuinely waiting for me and looking forward for my arrival and that simple gesture made me feel so special, cared for and welcomed. In that moment, I just knew everything about this stay was going to be amazing even before I set foot in the resort. Once I arrived at the Resort, I was warmly welcomed by Morton the General Manager of Amanwella and the front desk. Every interaction was warm, professional, and left me feeling valued. I would also like to give a special mention to Dhanush at the restaurant, who was exceptionally kind and warm throughout our stay. One moment that stood out was at breakfast when my dad was debating whether to order pol roti or string hoppers. He finally decided on the string hoppers, but Dhanush, being so attentive, brought both ensuring my dad didn’t miss out on either. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a true reflection of the genuine care Amanwella’s team puts into every detail. Das Amanwella in Tangalle kann man nicht als Resort bezeichnen. Noch weniger trifft der Ausdruck ?Hotel? zu. Nein, dieser Ort, an dem ich einige Tage w?hrend meiner Zeit auf Sri Lanka verbrachte, ist etwas sehr Spezielles. Das von Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lankas bedeutendstem Architekten, inspirierte Amanwella ist ein Must für Aman-Fans und für Geniesser des dezenten Luxus. Das Hotel liegt inmitten eines Kokospalmenhains und fügt sich harmonisch in seine natürliche Umgebung ein. In krassem Kontrast zur organischen Umgebung des Resorts, zeigen die architektonischen Linien den deutlichsten Beweis für die quasimonumentalen Einflüsse der Moderne. Die Schlichtheit der Geb?ude wird vervollkommnet durch die Verwendung traditioneller Materialien wie antiker sri-lankischer Dachziegel und handbehauenem Stein. Privater sch?ner Strandabschnitt, mit Bedienung, dieser liegt jedoch zwischen zwei ?ffentlichen Badestr?nden. Dadurch spazieren immer wieder Personen quer durch diesen Bereich, lassen sich da auch nieder, müssen dann von den Security weggeschickt werden... das den ganzen Tag über... (in der Gegend wimmelt es nur von Guest-Houses und Backpackern.) Die Suiten verfügen über ein privates Tauchbecken, aber die Inneneinrichtung ist sehr, sehr einfach! Kalte Atmosph?re, schlichte M?bel. Geschmacksache. Die Speisekarte hebt den Reichtum der lokalen Küche hervor, mit Gerichten, die von den kulinarischen Traditionen Sri Lankas inspiriert sind. Exotische Gewürze, frische Kr?uter und lokale Meeresfrüchte werden gekonnt kombiniert, um Gerichte zu kreieren, die die Authentizit?t der Region einfangen. Amanwella ist wirklich Geschmacksache! Ja diese Architektur ist Geschmacksache und gef?llt nicht jedem. Mit pers?nlich hat es überhaupt nicht gefallen.
