Perfect place. Cosy and comfortable room, great staff at check in and at the bar. Absolutely stunning food, well presented, delicious and plenty of it. Would love to return again if I’m down this way.

Went to the Bourne Valley Inn for lunch. There is plenty of car parking and on entry the decorating is inviting and warm. Ordered a pint of cider and pint of Butcomb bitter. The bitter tasted like vinegar!! Went back to the bar and notified bar man. He said that he had only come on shift from a three day break and was sorry. He drew of some more beer before starting to pour another pint. I stopped him and asked if I could taste it. Again like vinegar so went for the only alternative bitter. Whilst we were sat down they drew off more beer to presumably get rid of the vinegar. A customer then came in and was served the same bitter. He returned to the bar saying it was off.

Unlike any other pub that serves real ales, they do tend to get quite tart towards the end of the barrel and unfortunately that had happened to be yourself that receive this in your case. We can absolutely understand that this is not ideal and we will take your comments on board in relation to this to monitor our beers better. Such a lovely pub, really welcoming and very friendly staff. 100% recommend. Sat in front of the fire and they kept putting on fresh logs. We had food too and was really tasty, didn't have to wait long at all.

Disappointed to say our first trip to this pub for some years didn't live up to expected. First impressions are positive, the pub is beautiful and was cutely themed for Halloween. What followed was a let down - service was glacially slow and (mostly) poor, it took three attempts to get a simple drinks order for four correct. It then took a extraordinarily long time for our food order to be taken - and this was after the serving staff had already been nudged. The food that came out was good in taste and presentation but lukewarm - some parts were outright cold and unpleasant as a result. The seating arrangements were very cramped, perhaps to fit in a live singer (a nice touch, but unexpected). The serving staff were constantly knocking into me and I could not tuck my chair any further under the seat. After our dishes were taken away and the serving staff were reminded (once more) that the rest of the party may want dessert, menus did eventually reappear. To be fair, the dessert did then come out quite quickly after the order was made - though one of the orders was subtly incorrect. We then waited a long time further for plates to be taken away. Rather than wait for the bill I paid for the group at the bar myself. We had already spent 2.5 hours at the venue from when we were seated to when we left. Perhaps staff were new, perhaps they overbooked, perhaps they were caught by surprise somehow. I'd consider one more try but I'd expect a dramatically improved experience.

Stayed for two nights. A lovely inn. Food was great. Mixed service with some staff friendlier and more helpful than others. Some lovely touches such as asking if we wanted a flask of milk to make tea and coffee in the room. Room was compact with little space for luggage - but looked lovely on first sight with really pretty decor. It just lacked some practical touches… The bed was on a plinth which looked great but meant that it was very awkward to get in and out of bed. No mirror in the main room at all. I had to ask for an extension lead to be able to dry my hair using the bathroom mirror. I heard others asking for extension leads so this may be a common issue in the rooms. Finally there was just no surfaces to lay anything down in the bathroom or the bedroom and because of the bed layout you couldn’t even use it. Overall it gave a feel of camping out rather than a ￡115 per night hotel room. Could be such a lovely place if some of these practicalities were thought through.

Our first impression with the staff was unexpected! We’d just arrived to drop off our luggage and the gentleman at the front desk offered to take our luggage to the room as we were crunched for time. A cab was waiting to take us to Highclere. Our room was cozy, clean and exceptionally stocked with clean towels, tea kettle, delicious coffee and tea. Dinner was great, with plenty of beer and wine options. Breakfast was outstanding along with the cafe latte and flat white. If we ever travel to this part of England again we would certainly stay at the Bourne Valley Inn

The location was great only a 10-15 drive to Andover. The property is lovely, has a really comfy, cosy feel to it. The beer garden is lovely. The staff are super friendly and I believe the manager or owner is very friendly and welcoming. Only downside was that we stayed during the heat wave and as it’s an older building there’s no air conditioning. They were kind enough to put a fan in the room but was very hot and the bathroom for very stuffy as the extractor fan wasn’t the best. Otherwise a really really lovely stay

Friendly staff. Quiet room, good facilities, comfortable bed. Good food. Needed tidying and repainting in some areas. Too much litter lying around outside.
