When the photos encourage you to stay, but in reality it's totally different. We stayed for two nights and was concerned when we realised the room we stayed in (Rm4) was above the kitchen, but we were assured the kitchen closed at 9pm and the extractor would be switched off by 10pm; it was.... Well on the first night! The second night the extractor was left on and no sleep could be had. We enquired at breakfast if anybody was around at night if there were any issues, and were surprised to hear that nobody was overnight. Thankfully there were no emergencies.... Also not sure how you would get in if you went out for the evening and came back after the staff had left for the evening as you only get given your room key. The room appeared nice on entering, with a vintage type bulb giving a nice warming glow. Only once you're settled in do you realise there is no decent light, and you're depending on one single Anglepoise light. You have to make tea/coffee in the dark. There are also no mirrors in the bedroom, so when you are drying hair you have to use a plug outside the bathroom and go into the bathroom to use the mirror in there.... Not the safest! The bathroom has one bulb not working and the mirror light on the wall didn't work, so another dark room. The bathroom only had an extractor so was damp, with paint flaking in the shower. Breakfast was ok, but nothing to shout about. The service was ok, but staff disappeared as soon as you were served and couldn't be seen again unless you went hunting. It was probably a really nice place to stay in it's day, but that day has well and truly gone. Needs work now.
Venue was hired by my family for a wedding and what a truly amazing venue, location and staff. By some distance the best place I have stayed at in the UK. Staff were brilliant and special thanks to Chelsea for everything she did on and leading up to the big day. This really is a stunning place to relax and watch the world go by, with fantastic food, reasonably priced drinks and comfortable rooms if you are staying over night. Diolch yn fawr Chelsea and all the staff at The Bourne Valley Inn ??????
I am saying very good for this stay but there could be a few décor improvements. My friends room had some sort of plastic bag covering a hole. Anyway it’s ok here for one night . Room was fine nothing special . Food was nice . No green tea at breakfast and and extra 2.45 of you wanted to add bacon to avo and poached eggs . An unnecessary charge really . Service was friendly . Few rooms with an aircon sort of sound or something . All in all it was fine . Nice location plenty to explore .
Great stay for my husband and I. Piers (sorry if we have spelt this wrong) was such a lovely member of staff who really looked after us and nothing was too much hassle. Always had a smile on his face. A lovely friendly and cosy atmosphere and great food! We will be back and thank you. Jessica
