We spent one night at Grinkle Park, and wished we could have stayed the week! Everything was absolutely perfect. We stayed in the Commondale Room, which had sweeping views over the lawns, and had everything we could possibly have needed. The food was superb! Our evening meal was an absolute delight. We were the only people at dinner & felt as though we had the hotel to ourselves! The staff were wonderful, every one one of them going the extra mile to make us feel special. Without doubt we shall be back! Thank you for a fabulous time!

Just had an excellent stay here. First time back in 31years, probably won’t leave it so long next time! Lovely clean hotel, nice tidy room and lovely food, all in all excellent value for money. That all said what really sets Grinkle apart from other places we’ve stayed and eaten is the attentiveness and friendliness of all the staff, whether that be the receptionist, bar staff or waiting staff. A real hidden gem, oh and they really love your dogs as well!

We had a wonderful stay for my husbands birthday. Dinner, bed & breakfast rate was really good value. The food, especially breakfast was lovely. Great choice & variety at breakfast. We had a gift voucher from our wedding in September for champagne afternoon tea which we also took advantage of. Only criticism would be to add savoury and less cake. Was hoping for either a slice of quiche, sausage roll, pork pie or scotch egg. Apart from that it was delicious, fresh salmon & homemade scones. Room was spotless and spacious. Location is fabulous especially as it snowed within an hour of our arrival. We will definitely be back again.

We had a great time celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary. The staff were lovely and very friendly. The room was amazing, as was the food. Great value for money. A truely magical venue which we highly recommend.

Grinkle Park Hotel remains my favourite hotel in the UK having come with my family for the best part of 40 years. It’s great value with a fantastic room thrown in with beautiful grounds and a lovely interior. I stayed in December again and whilst I had a lovely time - there are a few issues that need addressing: 1) One of the great features of the hotel has always been its full-sized snooker table. This attracted locals as well as being a great relaxing feature for guests. I was dismayed to see children aged 5-7 throwing the balls up and down the table (whilst their parents watched). This wouldn’t have been tolerated in the past and would not be allowed in a local snooker club. Secondly, there was a big beer stain down the corner of the cloth, again showing a lack of respect (from visitors). Worst of all though, every single cue tip was broken, meaning that hotel guests (stupidly) were playing and risking damage to the balls and to the cloth by striking the ball with effectively with the brass ferrule. In the past there were controls in place for this; the key would need to be left with reception to get the balls in the first place and children were not allowed to throw balls around. This was made clear to visitors. It seems a very simple solution to a) fix all the cue tips (retipping everything would cost under ￡50) and b) putting controls in place to ensure that the table is used sensibly. 2) The bar is in need of being stocked properly. Over the last decade, whenever I have been at the hotel (at least 20 times) the bar doesn’t have the right stock levels of drinks. On many occasions, spirits have run out or the beer has run out. On the night I was there they ran out of Guinness and Aperol. On every occasion I have been I have requested the pink Lanson champagne which is on the wine list – and on every occasion it has not been in stock. I suspect some of this is less the hotel’s fault and more classic lodges issue – but please stock the bar correctly as the hotel is missing out on money and annoying guests. 3) The food I had was superb – I had smoked salmon to start and chicken for my main course and the breakfast was as good as anything. The service, however, was mixed. Breakfast had seasoned veterans working who I believe are as good as any in the business, but at night for our large party – not once in 2 hours were we asked if we wanted a drink or checked whether everything was okay– again the hotel is missing out on revenue by not doing this. There’s also small annoying things like no longer having a bread plate or offering bread and butter (something Grinkle has always done) This won’t stop me coming again but is something that the management and Classic Lodges needs to look at. They have a crown jewel and they are treating it in parts like a piece of coal.

Excellent hotel very friendly staff always helpful.one small point that needs attention radiator hidden behind window curtain earning loss of heat through windows.

Superb hotel with great location, great staff, excellent food and plenty of parking. Room was very spacious, clean and warm, bed was excellent, slept like a log. We will definitely be returning for another stay.

We stay regularly, and are never disappointed. Love it in the summer having drinks on the rear lawn, also love it when the weather is not as good, a game of snooker, perfect.
