Had a lovely night away at The Higher Trapp with their “Night Away” deal. They have maintained the old wooden panelling and staircase which gives the hotel its charm, along with plush leather furniture and sweeping chandeliers. Parts of the hotel may feel tired, but I believe it adds to the charm of a hidden away place at the top of a hill with a crackling fire. Our room was a standard double room, simple and efficient. We had an eve in meal at Fitzy’s restaurant which was lovely - fresh made Cheese and Onion pie with homemade potatoes! The dessert was also gorgeous - we had a chocolate cake and sticky toffee pudding. In the evening we relaxed in the Lounge, playing games and relaxing in the atmosphere. The breakfast in the morning was filling, with a continental table serving pastries and cereals, along with a hot cooked breakfast. It was a lovely stay for an affordable price, would recommend.

Lovely hotel, Fabulous staff, delicious food! What more can you want. Special mention to the reception girls, always very helpful and welcoming Stayed a few times and always get a great deal and an enjoyable stay. Can’t wait to come back again!

My sister & I booked a deal off Travelzoo for Dinner, bed & breakfast, afternoon tea & the all inclusive drinks package in the evening. It was a great deal. The food was lovely & plentiful with a good choice on the menu. The drinks package was also extremely good & although not big drinkers, there’s plenty of choice as part of the deal for those who are. Our room was in the annexe, decent size room, very clean, just a bit tired decor wise but for 1 night it was more than adequate. Nice terrace to sit out but unfortunately the weather was a bit temperamental. A Tv is in the lounge area if you want to watch it. All staff were extremely polite, friendly & helpful. Plenty of parking. We couldn’t fault our stay for the price we paid & would definitely stay again.

This was my second visit here and it was really enjoyable. I was on a great value all-inclusive deal. There were more staff for the dining than on my previous stay and it made a real difference. The dinners and breakfasts merited 9 out of 10 and the choice of free drinks from 6-11 pm was excellent. I paid a bit extra to stay in room 4, which overlooked the gardens and was super.

Really disappointed, went for a birthday meal with family, had the mixed grill, it was awful, everywhere else I've had a mixed grill, you get, sausage, gammon, lamb chop, chicken breast, steak, not here, small piece of gammon, one very dry sausage and the steak, well they managed to hide it under a fried egg, service was not very good either, had to wait ages at the bar and it took them almost half an hour to make a cappuccino, their excuse was they had a wedding party in as well, sorry but they should have made sure everyone was catered for and ensured there was enough staff and equipment to cover the evening, would I return, short answer, No.
