What a brilliant hotel:pub/ restaurant!! Really nice atmosphere, friendly helpful staff The food really is lovely , lots of choice ( even for a veggi like me !! I was so bored of chips, pizza cheese , ordered the Asian teruyuki with tempura veg , really delicious! Tempura not executed well, is a miserable thing! The chef here got it right ?? Partner had the chicken supreme followers by sticky toffee !!! I really rate this place on all counts Great chef, great staff great ambiance! Will definitely be back if I’m in the area again ??

Soweit einwandfrei (Zi.3), ruhig gelegen und recht bequeme Betten. Das Frühstück war einwandfrei und man konnte zwischen verschiedenen Variante. Ausw?hlen.

Hotel is in a great location. Room was a little tight, Staff very responsive to needs. Coffee, fruit, pastries and egg bites for breakfast. ?Chairs in lobby need to be replaced. A bit worn.

Dinner was nice. Great beer garden out back. Reception seemed a little bit tired when we got there. Walking around town, people were friendly.

One night stay
A very pleasant stay. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Only negative was shower performance was poor. We found the duvet a bit heavy for summer but that's our personal preference. Evening meal was very nice and reasonably priced.

We arrived just in time to unpack and go to dinner. The food was excellent and we finished off the evening with a few drinks before heading to bed. Breakfast was superb and set us up for a walk around Kirkcudbright. Music in the afternoon was to my taste, as was the beer. I look forward to visiting the Garret again.

The first thing that greets you as you enter the hotel is the smell of stale beer, not the best of starts. The room we were shown to had no wardrobe only a small rail with 3 hooks and 3 mismatched hangers - presumably left by previous guests, I have never been in a hotel room without a wardrobe. We were there on the hottest days Scotland has seen in recent years and I asked for a lighter duvet to replace the 10.5 tog duvet which was on the bed and was told that that was the only weight the hotel had. This weight is NOT suitable for use in the summer. Our room wasn't serviced on the first morning and on enquiring, I was told that you need to ask for this - absolutely astonishing. Sloppy housekeeping on the second day. The best I can say about the breakfast was that it was alright; nothing to write home about. All in all, a very disappointing stay and we won't be back.
