Excelente hotel en medio del calor asfixiante en Jaffna. El restaurante, de los mejores que hemos disfrutado de un viaje por Sri Lanka de dos semanas. Especialmente las atenciones por parte de Nithu, que con su simpatía, atenciones y amabilidad nos alegró nuestra estancia en Jaffna. Gracia Nithu.

Les petits désagréments rencontrés l'année dernière ont disparus. Preuve du sérieux de cet établissement! Seul, le petit déjeuner qui méritait 5 étoiles n'en mérite plus que 4 en raison du réassortissement qui laissait à désirer (à 8h30 !). Cela est peut-être du à l'absence du Monsieur qui était présent les années précédentes. Quant au repas du soir au resturant le service et la cuisine méritent certainement 5 étoiles. Merci Ahmid d'être toujours aussi gentil et accueillant.

Very good hotel in excellent location on a secluded bay in the beutiful town of Amasra. Clean rooms with all basic facilities and excellent choice at breakfast. Very good local amenities and restaurants with good local seafood from the Black Sea.

One of the best expierience at Northgate. Lovely hotel with nice, cozy rooms. Comfortable beds and coolest A/C. clean and beautiful pool was a bonus after a long hot day...food was excellent .love the authentic Jaffna cusine served . The management and the staff are really friendly and went out the way to help. Ideal location as very close to the city and walking distence to the railway station which is one of the cleanest in Sri lanka. It was a memorable two days in Jaffna and thank you Northgate for making it exyra special...

Northgate Hotel & Restaurant Review Stayed: May 19–21 I stayed at the Northgate Hotel for two nights and was pleased with the overall experience. The hotel is decent and well-maintained, and the staff were excellent—friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout my stay. Upon check-in, the hotel staff recommended the restaurant located on the first floor. I tried the seafood kothu roti on May 19 and was genuinely impressed. Though the dish was dark in colour, it was packed with flavour and had a great mix of seafood—I could taste shrimp, cuttlefish, and fish. It was very well prepared. The dish was reasonably priced at 1700. I also ordered a local arrack cocktail (arrack, passionfruit cordial, lime, etc.), which was refreshing and balanced. Priced at 770, it offered good value for both taste and presentation. Later that evening, I visited Machnag Bar, which is attached to the hotel. I had a 500ml Lion Beer (cost 635) and found the space comfortable and welcoming. The bar also serves food, though I had already eaten at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was included with the room, and the buffet exceeded expectations. It featured a wide selection of traditional items such as puttu, string hoppers, fish kulambu, sambar, dhal, and various sambols. Fresh milk appam (hoppers) were available on order, and they were just as I remembered from childhood—fresh, soft, and full of flavour. Overall, I highly recommend the Northgate Hotel, its first-floor restaurant, and the Machnag Bar. The combination of good food, fair prices, and warm service makes this a great place to stay, dine, and relax with friends or family.
