I came to Hotel Lago for dinner and it was exquisite. I am so happy with the service received, the menu is extensive with lots of options. We had 3 courses and traditional Macedonian bread with garlic sauce which was all delicious. The manager Filip was very friendly and so was the staff member who served us. The presentation of the food was great and overall everything was excellent. 10/10. Beautiful views of the lake and lovely decor inside the restaurant. - Luissa Burton, Miss Europe 2018

This is a very nice hotel conveniently located 15 minutes (drive) south of the city of Ohrid. Our room faced the lake and we had a tremendous view of the sun setting each evening. The hotel and grounds are clean and access to the lake is right across the road from the hotel. The staff/owners of the hotel are very helpful and accommodating. Though English wasn't widely spoken we had no issues communicating. The restaurant is very good with a fairly expansive list of dinner options and a very good wine list. The breakfast is delicious. Definitely recommend this hotel. For those who are wondering about crossing the border from Albania, it's simple. We rented our vehicle in Tirana and told the company we were going into North Macedonia, make sure you inform the rental company in advance. We crossed into North Macedonia at the Saint Naum crossing (south end of the lake). We gave the border officer our vehicle registration and passports, parked the vehicle and went into the office, paid 20 Euro cash and walked out with our green card insurance. (There is a restroom at the crossing and the total time spent there was about 15 minutes).

This was our first time at Lake Ohrid and we were very pleased that we had chosen the Lago Hotel for our week’s stay. The small hotel is new, modern, stylish and spotlessly clean throughout and we found the staff to be unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and had a large balcony, with a stunning view of the beautiful lake. The restaurant was excellent, both for breakfast and dinner and meals and drinks are very reasonably priced. Taxis into Ohrid are plentiful and costs about €5-€7 for the 15 minute journey. There is also a somewhat unpredictable bus service. Ohrid town is very pretty, full of character with a great choice of restaurants, decent shopping and interesting sights. Lake Ohrid is truly stunning and our holiday exceeded our expectations in every way. We will definitely return.

This is a hidden GEM ... Visit before everyone else does! The Hotel is super clean, friendly, small and is opposite the Lake , with a private beach and free beds and Umbrellas ( not all hotels here offer this). Our room overlooked the lake and the wonders of sunrise and sunset was inspirational. The staff are very friendly. Beach towels provided and a very clean pool too ! Breakfast was buffet style daily , plenty of room in the restaurant overlooking the lake. The rooms are modern , clean with everything you need and want. I would almost certainly return ...
