The location at the foot of Chartres Cathedral was amazing. The host was awesome and the breakfast was timely and good. The B&B was a great location and a bit tired and having said that I would stay there again. The town was great and lots of restaurants to choose from but I would try and get reservations ahead of time. The church had a spectacular light show the night we were there which was so special.
A gem! We were in the St. Louis rooms, sitting room and bedroom. The sitting room has the view of the Cathedral and the bedroom has the quiet side. An extra coverlet came in handy when we got chilled going around at night looking at the wonderful light show. The mattress, the hot water, and the towels were all good. The rooms were comfortable and neither cluttered nor bare. The construction was noisy during the day but not very noisy and quite interesting. I found it a plus: looking at the stone cathedral and watching workers laying stone….evocative. The Cathedral light show featured workers too, tying the whole experience together. YMMV. The breakfasts did not include eggs and such but was abundant and good. There were croissants, chocolate buns, and baguette for baked goods, butter, jam, cheese, sliced meats to go with the baked goods, yogurt, and a plate of very good strawberries. I didn’t expect the French strawberries to be better than the Californian but these were. Also, of course, coffee and tea. The hotel people knew more about the light show and the other attractions than the person at tourist information across the square. It was still hard to figure out about the light show. The app interface was confusing for me. One tip: getting there from the train station on foot. Google sent us to the back, Rue du Cheval Blanc. Better to go to the cathedral and then turn left. Or, if you are very clever, at Place Jean Moulin, heading NE, continue NE on the no-car Rue de l’Etroit Degre rather than turning right, which goes to the cathedral square. On the other hand, seeing the cathedral right away has some joy too. In general. Google Maps is not as good at foot paths in France and England as it is in my home town, Berkeley.

We arrived to find them laying concrete in the front of the cathedral and general construction chaos that made threading our way to the B&B tricky. It didn't matter. loved this place -- We were in the St. Louis room and had a little sitting room which was handy since I always get up earlier than my husband. (snapshot provided) The bed was comfortable; there were extra pillows; the extra comforter came in handy since it was chilly when we were there. Old but with attention to modern convenience from heat you can control and bathroom heat bar, as well as a little kitchen in a cupboard with refrigerator and such which would come in handy if you were spending a longer time here. Breakfast was gracious and ample -- fresh OJ, really good coffee with plenty of hot milk I could add as is my habit -- basket of baked goods, yogurts, meat and cheeses, fruit. Anything you could want to start the day. We liked having a stairway right outside our room that delivered us to the side of the Cathedral. Once the construction work is done, it will be even more convenient. We were there for the illuminations and found this the perfect place to stay.
The location of this hotel is absolutely unbeatable. We stayed in the top floor room, called Ange, and the cathedral was literally right outside our window. Be aware that this hotel was built in the 12th century and it's definitely not a Marriott. There are lots of stairs and the rooms are all different and have their own character. The top floor room did not have a shower. There was a large whirlpool tub and you have to sit in the tub and use a handheld shower attachment. We loved the quirks of this hotel and would gladly stay there again. The breakfasts were fantastic and the host was a accommodating.
Great small funky old hotel. Located right at the cathedral. Very friendly staff. Carried our 3 x heavy bags up two floors. Got us parking pretty much infront of the hotel. Great breakfast with lots to eat. All friendly staff. Nice restaurant with great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Made our visit special.
The hotel is just across the road from the Chartres Cathedral, and our room (Henry IV) had a sitting area with a direct view of it. A very nice breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice was included in the room price. We were told the building was built in the 1200’s!! It was a thrill to know we were staying in a building with such history! (FYI - no elevator)
