We’re truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations. Unfortunately, weather and erosion along the Outer Banks are conditions outside of our control, especially following recent storm damage. Prior to your arrival, we sent an email update regarding current beach conditions, including photos and details about erosion and storm impacts. In that email, we clearly explained that guests could cancel for a full refund if the conditions were not to their standards. This is not part of our normal policy, but we chose to soften it out of fairness given the situation.Regarding the pool, our website clearly notes that it remains open until mid-October, weather permitting. While we often extend that timeframe, recent storms and cooler temperatures made it necessary to close the pool earlier this year. We apologize if this information was missed when booking. As for the hot tub, we are sorry you were asked to leave early and will be addressing this with our night staff to ensure consistency moving forward.In terms of housekeeping, while rooms are serviced daily, sweeping and mopping are not part of our standard daily service unless specifically requested. We take pride in being transparent and providing accurate information to our guests. Had you booked directly through our website rather than a third-party platform, you would have received all updated details prior to arrival. We stand by the accuracy and honesty of the information we provide.We wish you all the best in your future travels.

To reassure future guests, Lighthouse View guests are never asked to haul linens or trash, and that is absolutely not something we require. Linens, towels, and daily service are always provided for our rooms, and our team is available each day to help with anything you may need. We’ll also be updating the wording in the information binder to make it clearer moving forward so there is no confusion for future guests.Regarding the sandbags, we completely understand your disappointment. As a barrier island, our shoreline is always changing with wind and tide. The sandbags are a permanent protective measure for our facility, though Hurricane Erin left them more exposed than usual. We truly appreciate the compliments on the things we are able to control. Unfortunately, since Hurricane Erin, our property has suffered severe beach erosion, which has dramatically changed the shoreline. The weather and the conditions of our ever-changing coastline are outside of our control, and coastal regulations limit the ways we can intervene. As a result, sandbags are currently required for dune protection, and natural beach access can vary depending on tides and storms.We understand how important the beach is to our guests, and we are constantly working to keep our photos and information as accurate as possible.
