Our stay at Rua Resort was truly exceptional. The accommodations were above expectations—a beautiful taste of luxury set in a stunning countryside location with rolling hills all around, yet conveniently close to town. From the moment we arrived, we felt like family. The hosts were welcoming and made us feel completely at home, creating a relaxed and personal atmosphere that made our stay even more special. Breakfast was exceptional—top-notch and clearly chef-prepared, with great attention to quality and presentation. It was the perfect way to start our day. Rua Resort was a wonderful place to finish our travels and vacation. Peaceful, comfortable, and memorable—we would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Hamilton area.

My family and I stayed only for 1 night. However it was amazing. We had a very comfortable stay. Hosts were friendly and inviting. Our children loved the animals especially the 3 outside cats. The breakfast we had in morning was wonderful. The views from the property were outstanding. We will definately be back again, and highly recommend to anyone who is visiting the area. It felt like a home away from home.

What a great stay, it was a shame it was only 1 night. The beds were incredibly comfy, the horses, cats and alpaca friendly Great personal breakfast service Wonderful host Lots to love and the kids really loved it to. We will be back!

We were in the Rua (Harmony) Suite for our stay. Very spacious and comfortable. The property looks like an Italian or Spanish villa and is situated, with great views, atop a hill on the outskirts of Hamilton. A generous breakfast is provided.

Warm welcome in this comfortable, very quiet and tidy BnB. The (shared) bathroom is massive and very convenient. We enjoyed the opportunity to have a chat with our hosts and other guests. Our daughter loved to be offered a pack of carrots to feed the animals. We will certainly return.

We booked this place at the absolute last moment, and they were so accommodating and kind. We had the honeymoon suite which is enormous with two verandas overlooking gorgeous vistas. The room is big and comfortable and well appointed, with a huge bathroom. We could not have asked for more!

Beautiful property with amazing views of the countryside from any side of the property. Ponies, Llama, Goats, Cows and chickens to see, and the hosts are fantastic (excellent breakfast, clean rooms, all with great views). Highly recommend it!!!

Two of us stayed for a B&B visit in the country while driving through New Zealand. We booked the master suite which was simply amazing! The 360 degree views from the large balconies on both sides were gorgeous. There is a small farm with mini ponies, alpaca and sheep. We brought carrots to feed the horses and sheep which was fun. Colleen was a fabulous hostess with a friendly sense of humor and sets up a nice breakfast. There were other couples staying in other rooms, all friendly and quiet. Our suite had a very large, private bathroom. Some rooms have shared bathrooms. Everything is very clean. I would absolutely stay here again - especially in a suite room.

Colleen was outwardly very pleasant when my husband went to check in. After I introduced myself, she asked both of us where we were from and we told her that we were from the US and as part of the conversation asked us how long we have lived there. My husband replied 45 years to which her answer was “you don’t have an American accent”. Are all her customers subject to such remarks or is it just us? Her website indicates laundry as available but we could not use it as we had no idea where it was and Colleen was nowhere to be found. When we enquired the next morning, with another gentleman who I think was the chef, he said he had to ask Colleeen as it was not available for guests to use. If you have big luggages there are a lot of stairs you have to carry them through. Something to keep in mind. Shared bathroom and toilets were awkward. Breakfast was decent.

Staying at Rua Lodge made the perfect start to our weekend, we were extremely lucky to been given the Rua room aka honeymoon suite, absolutely delighted with the room and the size of bathroom was amazing. Rural views were so relaxing to look out at. Breakfast was a lovely experience and you felt part of the family setting. Our hosts Colleen and Clive and their family make you feel very welcome. We will definitely be back to book that room again.
