It’s just as wonderful as all these reviews describe. We stayed in the Nest as a splurge for a family of three. It’s a beautiful building nestled in the rainforest. The views over the lake through the trees changes throughout the day. George and Aldy are wonderful and it is very clear the resort is a labour of love. We came across an array of wildlife, a testament to the sustainability of the resort. The complimentary breakfast each morning was delicious and child friendly. The setting of the restaurant was beautiful. The walkways nestled in the rainforest to the Nest added to the fun, our 7yr old loved walking to breakfast each morning!

Lake Baroon is a tranquil & scenic pocket dam, located between Montville & Maleny, with various recreational facilities on offer to visitors (including boating, fishing, picnicking, rainforest trekking, etc). ? Enjoy the charm of the ‘hidden’ Secrets on the Lake Café / Restaurant, also offering captivating rainforest treehouse stays; highly atmospheric & ideal for a short get-away.

My partner and I are seasoned travelers, having explored over 10 different countries and lodged in more than 50 diverse lodgings, ranging from 5-star hotels to hostels. We had been eager to experience a stay at Secrets for a while, having enjoyed several visits to their restaurant in the past. However, when it came to the actual accommodation, it fell short of our expectations, especially considering its billing as "luxury accommodation" and the corresponding rates. Below, I outline the pros and cons of our personal three-night stay in the Bower treehouse. Positives: 1. The treehouse boasted a breathtaking view. 2. The food served was of excellent quality. 3. The overall cleanliness was commendable. 4. A complimentary breakfast was included. Negatives: 1. We encountered cockroaches in the dishwasher. 2. There were issues with broken toilet seat hinges. 3. Some of the furniture and furnishings, such as rugs, bedspreads, and the couch, appeared outdated and would benefit from an upgrade. 4. The breakfast credit provided was insufficient to cover a simple drink with breakfast, necessitating extra charges for tea and coffee. (We suggest including breakfast beverages or offering breakfast with drinks included.) 5. Breakfast service did not commence until 8 am. In summary, our stay was enjoyable, with the surrounding natural beauty providing a significant highlight. The overall service and accommodation were satisfactory. However, given the plethora of alternative lodgings in Montville and Maleny, along with our prior experiences in similar accommodations, there seems to be a sense of complacency and a lack of attention to necessary improvements and reviews.

There are times when we are let down by staff so apologize for your experience However, we always ask that guests let us know immediately there is a problem so we can fix it. This is much better all around as you don't simmmer about as it is taken care of. We do now include a complimentary cup of coffee or tea for all diners having breakfast before 9.30am. To our credit we do provide freshly baked croissants for guests who breakfast before our opening time. KInd regards George and Aldy Johnston

Another wonderful visit to a heavenly retreat that holds a special place in our hearts. We have stayed here numerous times, and always, it never ceases to amaze us. George and Aldy have created such a peaceful haven that is so unique and special that truly must be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Thank you this time to Sarah for making our 33rd wedding anniversary extra special for us and truly unforgettable. Words cannot describe how special you made us feel. We actually had tears in our departure. Please do yourself a favour and stay at Secrets on the Lake at least once. So good for the heart and soul.

We are often told that the treehouses are not only unique and worldclass but that it would be well-nigh impossible to be able to build Secrets again considering all the restrictions that are in place.
