Unfortunately, the downside of a hotel with no front desk in the middle of winter turns out to be that you and their tech support agent have to work together to debug your room's heating system at 1:00am via text message. And then you never solve it, are miserably uncomfortable in fancy surroundings, and they offer an apology in the same text message chain which feels as though it was written by AI. Maybe this is the direction that all hotels are heading in, but I must say that I can't recommend this one when Kingston has so many options with good service.

Fantastic Hotel, great staff, food is very good and plenty of it, seafront location, rooms are spotless, highly recommended.

Stayed here during Turkey & Tinsel trip with Owen’s Coaches. Hotel was nice, food excellent and staff friendly. However bathroom in need of facelift, which wouldn’t cost a lot to do. Had no hot water in sink for duration of stay and shower took 10 minutes to heat up.

The nice thing about stopping at here on business is the ideal location close to motorway network but nestled in the beautiful borders views. I always feel relaxed and ready for work after visiting the breakfast buffet. Well worth a stop over instead of one of those purple corporate places.

We stayed here for 3 nights. I would just like to say a massive thank you for our lovey stay. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. On our arrival we were asked if we wanted help carrying our luggage. The receptionist was so friendly and welcoming. We were offered unlimited tea and coffee for our room. The room was very clean and the balcony was a lovely place to relax. We will definitely be returning in the future.

The good ratings must be coming from people that don’t travel much, you’d do better in a travelodge and a Premier inn would be a much better choice! My advice don’t pick this hotel. The photos of the rooms are deceiving and upon arrival went to room 25 a tiny twin room you can barely swing a cat, the room was absolutely boiling with no heating on. There was a small fan and a big window that opened out onto a view of a wall and the disgusting smell of an extractor going all day and night from the kitchen. Tiny tv that was very slow to operate, bathroom had tiles moving and low water pressure at the sink that also didn’t drain well. The shower pressure was rubbish too and setting the temperature was a pain. You have to ask for toilet roll and fetch tea and coffee from reception! No warm welcome upon arrival and when explaining about the heat in the room upon checkout was just told oh sorry about that we had some guests say the heating was on, it’s not cold enough for that yet! Did not dine or drink here so can’t comment on that, best thing I did was get on a train to visit Bristol as like the hotel it’s a dump in a dump of a town!
