We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Sutton Hall and are already planning our return. Outstanding Staff From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and genuine. Robyn greeted us so sincerely, and Megan who we spoke to by telephone before our arrival was just as lovely. Nothing was too much trouble — they truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. Comfortable, Spacious Accommodation The self-catering accommodation was spot on: warm, spacious, and very comfortable. It had everything we needed, making it a real home-from-home. Free WiFi was a great added bonus. Beautiful Grounds Set in 24 acres of woodland and lawns, the setting is simply stunning. A lazy river winds through the grounds, with small weirs creating a soothing waterfall sound. The walks are peaceful, full of wildlife, and the Georgian gardens are beautiful. Wandering around, you genuinely feel like the lord or lady of the manor. Brilliant Private Facilities The swimming pool, hot tub, and fitness room are all free to book — and because they’re bookable, you get them to yourselves. That level of privacy feels like a real luxury. Great Location Close to the charming market town of Thirsk, with lovely coffee shops and local history — including its connection to James Herriot (All Creatures Great and Small). Sutton Bank National Park is also nearby, with views often called the best in the country. Overall If you want a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings with top-notch service and facilities, Sutton Hall is perfect.

Amazing stay at a beautiful property. Stayed just for one night with my partner in the Mowbray suite. The accommodation was ground floor so great for anyone with difficulties walking, and great access to the swimming pool. Mowbray was spacious, warm and decorated beautifully. We loved being able to use the facilities for me and my partner, used the pool, hot tub and sauna in the evening. The next morning me and my partner got in the hot tub which was really nice to sit and look across the grounds, where we could see deer grazing which felt like a really magical experience. We also had a walk around the grounds which were stunning. We didn’t see any staff but the out of hours information was sent via text which was really useful and we actually enjoyed not having to ‘check in’ at the office. Would recommend to couples, families or solo travellers as it is so peaceful and relaxing with lots to do in the area

Report front door to building broken and unsecure and in a dangerious state which then meant appartment was colder and damper than it should be, not fixed for two days. Left at end of week with electrity bill greater than our bill on a three bed house for a month.

Very clean and quiet! Good half way stop between London and Edinburgh. Travelled with a family of 5, stayed for one night. Sofa bed was fairly comfortable. Very large lay out of the apartment. Nice kitchen ( did not use) was nice to have two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the York apartment. Pool looked nice but did not use either due to time.

Sutton Hall is a wonderfully situated and exceptionally comfortable holiday resort complex, boasting excellent leisure facilities and stunning grounds. Our small cottage was meticulously clean and equipped with all the amenities you could reasonably expect at home. It even included a dishwasher, microwave oven, air fryer, Dolce Gusto coffee machine, smart television with logins for services like Prime and Netflix, and an air purification unit. The self-catering setup was incredibly easy to manage and very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom was spacious, featuring a large bathroom with both a shower and a corner bath. Thoughtful touches like Yorkshire Tea sachets and a couple of pods for the Dolce Gusto machine were also provided. The resort offers convenient on-site car parking, fast Wi-Fi, and incredibly helpful staff. We arrived outside of normal check-in hours but were provided with a helpful video link, making it easy to find our way from the car park to our accommodation. If you appreciate North Yorkshire and are looking for a well-located base to explore the best of the county, combined with truly comfortable self-catering accommodation, then this place is definitely worth considering.

Love this place!! If you truly want a break from the grind i can’t express how peaceful & pretty it is here. I stayed in eskdale cottage within the grounds and it was thoroughly welcoming, fully equipped, warm & cosy, like a home from home. The woodland walk is well signed and looked after but equally untouched enough that you can really enjoy the nature and quiet, whilst feeling totally safe that I was alone, the pool was clean and warm and I loved that it was for solo use which is a massive plus for body conscious people so I enjoyed and undisturbed swim & jacuzzi followed by half an hour in the amply equipped fitness room. Sat outside in the pretty grounds to eat my tea before enjoying some Netflix (provided by the resort) and the best sleep I’ve had in forever with the huge bed being super comfy. I can’t wait to rebook and come with my kids to enjoy the tennis courts and peace all over again

Hidden gem, the Swaledale was perfect clean throughout and had everything in the kitchen we needed including air fryer. We loved the pool and booked it twice, once in the evening and again in the morning, best thing about the pool it is only reserved for you during that time, so we had an hour to ourselves. Highly recommended and we would go back

Absolutely loved this place. Only stayed one night, but the apartment was clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Less than 5 minutes from Thirsk by car, it is a perfect base for a family if you wanted to go sightseeing. We just wanted a night away for grandma, daughter and granddaughter and it was perfect. If I had any criticism it would be the pool was very cold .

We were in the Rosedale ground floor one bed flat. I advise you to arrive by 5pm, before the office shuts until Monday, or you might have difficulty finding your accommodation; the name 'Rosedale' is not to be seen. You might also have difficulty with the heating; there are six pages of instructions for the three radiators (couldn't follow them so we were cold), and none for the electric woodburning stove (whose wall switch said 'on' but did nothing. There is in fact an invisible switch underneath the stove. No double glazing so plenty of condensation and the bathroom had blinds but climbing over the bath to open or close them was better suited to a contortionist. The basin light had a loose connection (?) and flickered constantly (when it went on); the socket close to the dressing-table (ideal for the hairdryer) would not accept any 3 pin plug; the kitchen hot tap dries up completely when other flats are also using it. Does nobody ever check these things? We will not return.

Overnight stay for me and my partner, the apartment was beautiful and extremely clean. Great facilities such as a full kitchen and smart tv/wifi. Staff were friendly and really helpful. Grounds were amazing, we really enjoyed the pool and hot tub and will definitely return in the new year.
